Sarah loved the lady with the red bicycle frame and red tights (as in Jo’s bicycle post)

so much that she got

A pair of red flats from Andre Valentino @ the Robinson’s Sale.

Its my first non-neutral coloured pair of shoes and I’m EXCITED!! (even though I’m a bit apprehensive of what to match them with) I can’t wait to experiment!! :D

Neat Knits

I remember when my godmother used to knit and crochet vest, tops and little pouches for me… when I was in primary school and didn’t feel that I was too cool/grown-up for such things yet (: They came in the sweetest pastels and most intricate of details.

I also remember learning the basic of basics of knitting a year or two ago from my art teacher, together with Pinks…

The only think I don’t remember, is wearing them recently!

Fashion.st recently featured Nina, who just has a knack at wearing knits! She doesn’t wear just one knitted piece, she wore up to three at a go!

And if you were visualizing a fluffy bubble of some sort

Ah, I shall put my knitwear experiment outfit on hold until the weather decides to be nice to all of us. I’ll just take this time to stock up on knit, heh :D

I know Pinks is gonna ask where I find the time to look for pictures and post an entry. It’s stress-relief, haha :D

Anyway, I was just listening to Bicycle Race by Queen, then I found these lovely bikes! I think it has rekindled my envy/secret love for bikes!

(I never could ride a bike until a year or two ago, but shortly after I fractured my foot while walking down the stairs, and I never attempted cycling again)

All these people look gorgeous just sitting on their two wheelies. I’d love not-so-accidentally matching my clothes with my bicycle. Mine will be black with cream and ivory swirls!

Awesome pink and adorable basket! I’m sure I’ll get alms for looking this cute, hahaha

RED TIGHTS-RED FRAME, YELLOW PANTS-YELLOW FRAME, I’m green with envy! ):

I’d put my imaginary pug in my basket (:

I’d install bicycle bells in different notes so that I can have my own bicycle race solo, woot!

A black phase.

As promised, here are Sarah’s purchases from the felt sale. I bought 7 items, totalling $585. (can’t quite believe i spent SO much money! but compared to the original prices, I save a whole lot of money) and after taking photographs of all my purchases, I realised that almost all my purchases were black.

1. A Zambesi tank top. long and black, with small sequins down the front. The back is plain.

2. A munk tee, with an asymmetrical neck detail.

3. A Hansel halter top. I like that the lace is in black. It looks delicate without looking too feminine. (as compared with the white version)

4. A Laurie Foon tank top with silver stitching of a swan. Its rather plain looking but the swan makes me really happy. (: hahas.

5. A pair of Hansel pants. (My ONLY non-black item) its a cropped pant. Very simple pair of pants. I affectionately call them safari pants.

6. A pair of Tina Borg pants. For some abnormal reason, these pant legs are unusually long. When i wear them, there is excess fabric about 5 inches long. :/ I have to get them altered. But the details at the knees was too good to resist!

7. A Lisa Ho belt. My most pricey purchase of the lot, but possibly my favourite! The cut-outs in the leather make it very unique.

So there you go, my purchases from the felt sale. Won’t be shopping for awhile now. But i’m very happy with my buys! (:

A day at the races

If you are attending Formula Drift Singapore,

our sunny island’s first drifting competition, on 27 April 2008 at the Changi Exhibition Centre (the same place that the Airshow was held at. Yes, the place in the middle of NOWHERE!!!)

Here is some fashion advice.

1. Wear long pants. There is nothing worse than a funny tan line (unless you really like them). Even though it might be slightly warm, you can always change into something that is more comfortable just before you leave the venue.

2. Wear covered-toe shoes.

But, preferably NOT ballet flats.

If not, Ballet flats + Hot sun =

(please note that i’m referring to the difference in skin tone on the feet and toes, NOT the nicely painted toenails. hahas)

3. Bring sunnies and a coolioz cap

4. Drink LOTS of water. Don’t be shy, bring out the camel/water trough in you. The sun can be quite unforgiving.

5. Slather on SUNBLOCK (like there’s no tomorrow)!!!

Hope to see you there!! (I’ve volunteered to be a marshal for the event)

I’ve got a confession to make…

I (Pinks) do not online shop.

Jo, on the other hand, does. (and i’m not so secretly jealous of her gladiator sandals that she got online)

I think that if i ever started, I wouldn’t be able to stop. Especially since I have a tendency of spending A LOT OF MONEY during my rare and infrequent shopping trips. [I'll show you what I mean in a later post with my sale purchases] Plus, I believe (or at least have the impression) that online shopping requires a credit card (which i do not have) so I don’t bother/tempt myself.

And, if you have some spare time, check out this Perth blog that i chanced upon. More specifically, the 12th April 2008 entry (first and second picture): I find the hoodie and green rope details interesting (I call it the taleban shirt) and i mean it in a non-terrorist way.

UPDATE!

ok, my exams are over and Jo has been bugging me to update.

There were several interesting finds at the felt sale.

First up were pear-shaped coats by Jayson Brunsdon, fully lined, all seams hidden, in jim thompson-esque thai silk.

The material was stiff enough to create a scrunched effect but was not stiff enough to make to collar area have more volume. It gave me the impression of ‘neither here nor there’. Moreover, there weren’t any buttons so you’d either have to find your own brooch or leave it as it is. (Jo thought she looked like an onion) We didn’t get them, but they were really fun to play in. hehes

and Jo, had some flasher tendencies

(she did something like that again on the train today, but it was an attempt to keep me and a friend warm on the journey home)

There was also a Hansel jacket.

Top: Marks and Spencer’s tank top

Jacket: Hansel Sample Jacket

Bottoms: by Melly

Shoes: Charles and Keith boots <3!

AND a Zambesi wrap top (that strikes me as a more wearable version of Balenciaga’s Spring ‘08 RTW collection) even though it is from the Winter 2006 collection.

Photos from Zambesi and Style.com

But the Zambesi wrap at felt was in a dark blue fabric with red and pink ovals. (if you click on the Zambesi link, the colour is called ‘confetti’)

The model’s hair covers the shoulder details partially but the silhouette is similar. What I like about the Zambesi wrap is the tie at the waist, even if tied loosely, it still creates an hourglass figure.

By the way, does anyone have a camera to recommend? I’d prefer to post better quality photographs for everyone’s benefit. My budget is about $500 (I suppose) [even though I don’t have money to spare after all my purchases from felt

Djurdjica Kesic

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Djurdjica Kesic seems to pluck ideas from just about anywhere and translate them into jewellry and other objects (objects! like something from a part of an installation, maybe?) that inch their way into my giant book of desirables.

Armed with a diploma in metalsmithing and degree in interior design, Djurdjica churns out fluid, organic, raw, but conceptually profound jewellry.

Take a look at these!

Vessel
Vessel ring that conceptually contains, carries, transports what is personal to one. The dimensions and form for this ring stems from the body, emerging from the contours of the hand.

Pebbles
This ring series reflects interest in exploring the notion of preciousness within the seemingly non-valuable. The rarity of the material is not any longer the defining aspect that renders the object precious.

Transitions

In the ‘Transitions’ series the starting point is an old, reclaimed chair. Through observing its function, form and materiality and through a series of interventions, a number of jewellery pieces have emerged.
Transience occurs on a number of levels: from one form to another, from one function to another, from one context to another.
Additionally, yet another transition took place: the chair that once housed the body ended up being housed (worn) by the body itself.

Text and Images from djurdjicakesic.com

What is not to like? Change, transience, transition, transformation piques my interest. I love the transitions series.

I hated doing preparatory work when I was doing art at ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels - why can’t I just start on whatever I like and want, whenever?

But now I see that sometimes it’s the thought that goes into the pieces that makes it so - awesomely - cool

(Ashamed) Actually, I’m not sure if Djurdjica is a he/she ): Care to verify?
