While lately, the women have been rummaging into the men’s wardrobe, it seems that the men ought to take a cue or two from the ladies!

Lanvin’s Men’s Spring 2008 collection had some curvy silhouettes and tailoring that were more characteristic of women’s wear. I like thattt!

Floppy hats with flowers, ruched blazers, pintucked tops, tie strappy sandals, bubble sleeves, thick cable knits in pretty colours like mauve (how the hell do you pronounce this colour?), velour/velvet suits, bold corsages, and are those loose leggings/slinky slim pants?! I NEED THOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m not sure if the that female feel is that prevalent here, but I love Viktor & Rolf’s collection too.

The most vibrant garlands, coral and mint colours, unexpected print clashes, slim fits and the sudden oversized slouchy jacket, tiny man-shorts…

Oh and hello, Viktor/Rolf lookalike!

Australian clothing chain Sportsgirl has the capsule collection by their local designer Kate Hurst out in stores and on their website!

I spy lots of tiers, ruffles and prints, which seems somewhat similar to the GO International collection in Target now.

Of course given the prices you can’t really compare the quality and cut. There are some pieces from the GO collection that I wish were made differently, minus the pleats, cut the cowl… and so on.

Mmm.. I got some from the previous New Next Now GO collection, but I think I’m giving this one a miss. You?

May I have a serving of Ferocity

From Facehunter

I think this is one of the very few times (or first time?) I’ve seen someone wear that beloved Balenciaga out. It’s an interesting way of wearing it – pairing structure and slouchiness. And with a hamburger purse to boot!

(I’ve been secretly harbouring a crush on it because I think the stiffness, structuredness and overall floral messiness will make people overlook my fat tummy and sloppy shoulders haha)

I wish he had that little bit more ferocity in his posture or facial expression to match the darling. Isn’t that top making him happy/excited enough?! Why does he have such a blah face!

Hm.

Or is that a smug face.

You know that feeling when you return from your shopping trip lots of loot in hand, fully laden? I love the feeling of carrying many shopping bags like you’ve just got the best buy in a lonngggg time.

Ah.

I got the same feeling resisting the temptation to buy all the things I saw at all the sales in town today.

Ah.

Yes so my hands were empty when I returned home. It’s so odd, but don’t you feel the same way too?
“Yay I have successfully kept my money where it should belong!”
“Sales doesn’t mean cheap, doesn’t mean I have to buy them!”
“Liberation from my usually compulsive behaviour!”

One is the Loveliest Colour

I came across this freaky article from NY Mag.

It’s not five people you meet in heaven or something, it’s five people who wear just ONE colour, and maybe even one particular shade of a colour every single day.

I mean, I had a red phase, then a black phase… now I’m trying to be in a prints phase (lol), but these people must have a friggin medical condition!

The old lady dyes all her stuff in kelly green (read: GRINCH GRINCH GRINCH GRINCH!), the young lady is irked even if the soles of her shoes are not grey, another man will not go for an event simply because it says black tie, and he doesn’t wear black – only brown (ass wipe ass wipe!).

I think if I had any friends like that I would flip. What if at my wedding, black tie is an imperative, and he/she doesn’t usually wear black??

Freaks!

I’m an unoriginal, cheating, ultra major copycat!

I was at Daiso (the horrible place that has everything from cosmetics to handicraft to gardening to food products – which makes you want to buy everything because it is just $2) with my boyfriend to help him look for some travel toiletry bottles for him to bring into his camp after he enlists for national service (army).

Then I spotted these lengths of zips, colourful zips, star zips, floral zips, silver zips, zips that you can cut to your own length.. then wait – ZIPS YOU CAN CUT TO YOUR FAVOURED LENGTH!

I got three long pieces at a go ($6 WTF) and spent half my day at work and the whole of last night making it.

It has ugly stitching and all, but I don’t intend to be that close to anyone for them to be able to spot that… It also doesn’t have a zip stopper (whatever that’s called) so the zip can come right off I don’t stop right before the hem. But of course all i have to do is zip it up from the bottom when that happens.

Worse still, it’s kinda to big at the waist and too small at the zip for me, so I just leave the back undone to accomodate the size.

Sigh.

Still.

Caged in a cage, in a cage, in a cage, in a cage

That’s the E.T. look, the semi chee-sin mui look, and the superwoman look. Wahahahha.

Top: Black silk/cashmere v-neck jumper from Mango Suit
Dress: Convertible black and grey dress/top/skirt from Baylene
Leggings: my sister’s
Pants: Silver denim pants from HK
Heels: Open-toed booties from HK
Headbands: Diva

(Okay I think I’m becoming a not-so-closet/secret Susie fangirl. And maybe also a bit of Diana. Heh.)

The long/mini dress/top you see in the last three photos is actually a convertible dress/top/skirt that i bought from a local designer – Baylene a week or two ago. There are supposed to be at least ten ways you can wear that thing, so since I splurged quite a bit on it, I think I better find more ways to wear it.

I like wearing it over my face. But it is not very practical, no?

:D

The deed is done!

I spent half the day at work and the entire night cutting, trimming, stitching, zipping, poking (myself), trying and being a major copycat.

Heh. Photos tomorrow!

Meanwhile, I am being outbid for a pair of stripey pants on ebay. My bottoms are really boring. I need to earn myself some stripes ):

I was clearing out my closet when i came across this Arthur Yen jacket.

This jacket belonged to my mom, who cant recall when she got the it although i think 10+ years would be a safe estimate. Its a lovely jacket, that (i feel) still has a lot of life in it. It reminds me of a chanel tweed jacket, although the print is very different. And other than the arm holes being slightly big, i’d wear it in a heartbeat for school presentations or dinner functions.

However, as cute as the buttons are,

I think a swop would update the entire look of the jacket.

i found a few buttons which i think might work, but i thought that i’d ask for some suggestions.

The following buttons are from k & j crafts

The current buttons are 35mm, but i think making the button holes smaller shouldnt be much of a problem. My personal inclination is towards the first button; metalic and rounded, it has a more contemporary feel.

or should it have a matte look, like the rest of the jacket? blending in with the fabric?

or stay true to its vintage nature and stick with a classic mother-or-pearl gleam?

help!!

Chee Sin Mui

A while ago, Susie Bubble took on some wtf -fabric and labelled the entire look “chee sin mui”, which translates to crazy girl in Cantonese!

Sometimes people at home say that I’m chee sin, but never in the way that Susie Bubble looked – which was quite awesome! haha.

Here’s another chee sin mui moment

A very darling Carrie looking haphazardly and hazardously put together! Those booties she’s tottering on on slippery snow, that hugeeee fur coat and ditzy disco sequined cap all over pjs?

If you could see my face right now it looks something like -> o.0? complete with the question mark.

Well every now and then I get to play around with clothes and mannequins that don’t belong to me, haha. So here’s my !attempt! at the chi seen mui :D

Okay somehow the chee sin-ness doesn’t comes across very well in the picture. Maybe you need to add a face and actions. You can try to imagine my o.0 face :D

Soooo this is what went into it
1) Plain orange flutter sleeve top with stripe trimming
2) Floral print square neck sleevesless top with lace trimming
3) Stripe denim jumper dress
4) Braces from an orange high waist skirt with stripe trimming (tied in a bow)
5) Brown leather bag

Do you feel me?

ph34r t3h ch33 5!n! (fear the chee-sin! okay I’m sorry I go into bursts of 1337 sp34k [leet {elite} speak])

Wow, the last time I used that many brackets was in math.

Swirl’s latest collection is gonna launch on Saturday 12 June, 2pm at Stamford House #02-05 with a tea party!

I love all the cartoony hand drawn add-ins in their photos. *Swoons at cute clothes and even cuter drawings*
