I should get these right? The mesh, the low wedge, the low cut, the taupe laces.

I’ve been looking for the perfect un-sporty sneaker… and I think these might be it! But.. they are TOO BIG!?!?!??!!!!!!!

My feet measure a ginormous 9 3/4″, but these are 11″ long! Will they still fit me? I know there ought to be some space down the front when wearing sneakers. Are these too big?

Would I wear socks with them – would my socks be 1″ thick? Hahahaha.

By the way, I haven’t got to wearing my rainboots from Target. It’s been over 30 deg cel for the past two days! Give us a break!

I’ve been meaning to put this up for the longest time! I did this shiz in January with loads of Kleenex, tissue paper, glue, staples, vanguard sheets and some paint! It was for one of the publicity “stunts” we did in school for a party at Zouk with a glam celeb thingy theme.

I think it took me about…. four hours to make… from 0030 to 0430 – yes in the morning.

Here’s my sister modelling it.

So some people really hated this on Bjork, and it’s so long ago, I know… But I love it! :D

I’m guilty.

Within the past two months.. I’ve acquired (I say acquired because I didn’t buy some of them) nine belts. And I didn’t realise that I had so many (I still have about… seven belts that are not pictured – yes I have sixteen waists) until…today!

(It’s Sarah’s idea to display belts on a nekkid mannequin. Sadly, I just keep all my belts on a hangar)

From top to bottom:
M)phosis silver two-belt ($6!)
Giordano Concepts black pin studded extra long belt
Target Xhiliration black pyramid studded belt
This Fashion yellow square buckle belt ($6!)
Mango white elastic waist belt – I kinda regretted this buy.
(underneath) Munk khaki paint splattered obi belt
Aldo powder pink leather belt ($15!)
Zambesi black big bucklet belt
Mango olive zip elastic waist belt ($15 during the sale!)

They’re not very very unique, but I do like them all the same. Except for the white elastic belt… It just looks too bright white! Gah.

I wish I had a bigger room… a bigger closet, and a bigger shopping budget!

Why, Tony Leung Chiu Wai?

OMGWTFBBQ Tony Leung is finally married to Carina Lau – I’m in a fluster of happiness and unsound depression!

Those are just about the perfect wedding photos. No cheesy looking each other in the eyes, pastel pink studio backgrounds. The colours! Her Vera Wang gown and his ivory suit are so gorgeous.

Tony Leung is kinda like the perfect guy to me. He is understated-cool personified, suave, handsome, he exudes intelligence. There’s this still, but penetrating air about him – AGAHH.

Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love, Infernal Affairs… I always end the movie pining for Tony Leung (HAHA – especially so in Happy Together! Lots of gay action for a straight man. I was sooo jealous.)

You know all those celebs who get hitched as and when they feel like it, or have mad sex without a care for what will happen to their kids, and then divorce due to irreconcilable difference.. Tony Leung and Carina Lau have been together for over a decade TWO DECADES!!! (omgwtfbbq again – that’s just about as old as I AM!!!!) and I just feel like they’ll never be like that.

Okay that’s not my problem, but never mind.

I LOVE TONY LEUNG!!!!!!!!! Just like I love Nuno Bettencourt. And… the rest will be unveiled sooner or later.

Sorry the last two posts have been so fangirlish.

Seven Songs Tag

We were tagged by Diana to list the seven songs that we’re into right now, so here goes!

Rules: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.

Turn On Billie
by The Pierces

Hitten
by Those Dancing Days

Headlock
by Imogen Heap

Crave
by Nuno Bettencourt

[FANGIRL MODE]

And the last three which I love the most right now, but couldn’t find videos to!
Nice To Meet You by Dramagods
Sky by Dramagods
Interface by Dramagods

Check them out at HERE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Nuno Bettencourt formed Dramagods. Nuno can sing (bloody well), write songs, play awesome keyboards, even better guitar, and AREYOUOUTOFYOURMIND drums! His guitar emotes as much as his voice and lyrics does – which is A LOT!

Plus, he’s super hot. PLEASE MARRY ME!

(Do you see that this entry is under “Desirables” as well? Nuno is very desirable.)

[/FANGIRL MODE]

Sorry, that was a lot of caps.

Okay I don’t think we’ll tag anyone, cos everyone seems to have done it, and we took some time to get down to doing this, and I don’t think it’s extraordinarily interesting… Unless… you like what we’re listening to?

Thrift away!

Since jo put up a post on thrift finds, thought I’d write something about it too. (Although, i must say that i highly doubt i could out-trump her glamourette find with a better bargain)

Recently, I helped a freelance photographer friend (say that 5 times!) style a photoshoot (photos will be posted when i get them :D ! ) to build her portfolio. We went to the Salvation Army Family Thrift Store at 309 Upper Serangoon Road. (there are other outlets as well)

And these are a few of our finds…

Navy floral print vest/top (a cute mid-drift in its hey-day, with no missing buttons!)

Small circular pouch with embossed and stitched details. (the strap was falling apart, so i swapped it with a strap from another bag.. tts why the strap looks slightly disproportioned with the small pouch)

(and my favourite!) a picnic basket!! or maybe a dog carrier?

hahas. I just thought this bag was so cute. cant wait to bring it to school/go for a picnic/maybe even visit the beach. (and all because of the bag!!!)

Do you find that there are some things that simply compel you to do things just so you can show it off?

a new cocktail dress = night out with the girls for drinks

new beach tote = an afternoon on Palawan beach soaking up the sun

And not only do you have to go places/do things, you must dress to match the item.. hahas. (: i do that.

Anyway, the reason we hit the thrift store was because the shoot was on a tight budget. We got the top for $4 and the bags for $12 each. Reasonable (by my standards, at least). The only thing that annoyed me, somewhat, was that the prices were written onto the bags.. The picnic basket has its price written on one of the knobs (in thick blue marker) *grr!* But i still love it. (:

As promised, these are some photographs of an art project done in 2004.

sorry, i only have photos of photos :/

but maybe the more detailed shots shed more light..

The tree trunk and roots was where the bulk of the tabs were twisted into the sculpture. As well as the modified ‘leaves’ that spiral upwards and ‘change’ colour.

The branches, on the other hand, consisted mostly of wires with varying thickness weaved together.

The sculpture no longer exists, but the concept behind it was to create something (hopefully) beautiful out of something unassuming. Trees, i have always felt, are beautiful. (and i literally, would walk around school staring at trees to try understand how to shape my branches and also comment on which trees look nice and which didnt look as pretty)

During the experimentation stages of developing this idea, i even made a crude ring (of sorts). Not sure where it is though :/

But I must say that Maison Martin Margiela’s work, here, is very inspiring. I’d LOVE to see the pieces up close to see how its all put together. Whether the bands holding the tabs allow for movement. And if so, how does it stay in that position and not slip. And what was done to make sure that the wearer doesnt get scratched my the rough edges then the tabs are plucked off the cans!!

Blind Thrifting

Blind thrifting – that’s the kind of ignorant thrifting I did a a few years back at my church’s charity shop. Well not to say that I’m a pro at it… but having read more blogs and the ways of the wise I think I am better equipped as I plough through the rows and racks of clothes.

That said, my blindness/ignorance landed me a few goodies that I have only recently discovered to be real gems!

Mummy: MINE!
Top: Topshop
Belt: Alaia
Jeans: Levi’s
Heels: From Hong Kong

Alaia! I didn’t know who or what the hell Alaia was, but I was pretty sure the person who bought the belt must have been very ripped off because it cost S$790, and it came from this place called Glamourette… which kinda sounded dodgy and cheapy to me a few years ago hahaha.

Well I didn’t realise it was Alaia until my mum dug out the belt to wear today in the outfit (minus the heels cos she wore mary janes – she’s a florist).

And Glamourette is (or was) not the least bit dodgy/cheapy. Glamourette was a multi label boutique that used to be housed in the now-defunct Promenade, stocking designers such as Emanuel Ungaro and Thierry Mugler (according to yesterday’s copy of Urban).

OH OH OH I GOT IT FOR S$1!

Quite a gem it is. I love that it’s in suede (CAN YOU RESIST TOUCHING SUEDEEEE?? ((molests belt)) hahaha) and it has these cute woven ribbons peeking out randomly.

BUT. I cannot fit it. My monster of a waist is 2 inches shy of the first belt hole ):

Ever since my mum came home from Chicago she’s been copping our stuff and dressing exceptionally well (: And LC from Fops and Dandies is going to Chicago too! I’m one of the lurkers who never surfaced. I think I ought to, especially since she is gonna leave blogging behind.

I’ll pick up the tab

I remember about 4 or 5 years ago, my friends and I would down a regular can of soft drink and then pluck out the can tab and keep it in our coin compartment of our wallet. All these can tabs would then go to Sarah, who was going to make a can tab/wire tree for her art project.

The idea was novel! It seemed so cool to make such a pretty thing out of something as insignificant and tiny as a can tab.

But look here!

When I saw Maison Martin Margiela’s Can Tab Cascade necklace, and bracelet and ring, I was instantly reminded of Sarah’s sculpture!

I think I might have to start forcing my friends to give me their can tabs too. DIY for the win!

Will you get me this? Please?

From marcjacobs.com, it costs only $1.50! (I don’t know what currency it is in, but either way it’s not expensive!)
