This is a pre-emptive warning that Sarah will disappear for the next two weeks.

*WHOOSH!!!*
Here are the not-so-juicy details of my whereabouts:
27 – 29 April: Facilitation Training Camp in school
29 – 10 May: Israel (!!!)
And while I’m away, please attend, admire, ogle, experience, palpitate, salivate, grovel and swoon over Audi Fashion Festival Singapore 2009.
If my flight lands early on 10 May, would it be possible for me to buy a ticket at the door of the 8pm Vivienne Westwood 2009 AW show that very evening ??!?
[Edit: Damn. I just realized that the Vivienne Westwood show is sold out *sigh*]

First, there was the collab with Comme des Garcons,

Now H&M collides with Matthew Williamson to give us slurp-worthy eye candy!

The collection was released yesterday, 23 April 2009. And the blow-by-blow account of sales at the Eaton Centre outlet by thestar.com is hilarious!
“4.30 am: … They are shopping for the daughter, her instructions: “Whatever you can get.”
9.25 am: Stephen Thompson, owner of a construction company, is shopping on his wife’s behalf. No one tells him he is too far back in the line. No one tells him it is hopeless.
10.00 am: People grab merchandise indiscriminately – by the armloads.
10.02 am: Two minutes after opening, the cash registers ring in the first item of the day. Seconds later the racks are bare.
10.03 am: Things get physical. The shouter pulls the pregnant woman’s hair before storming off. Pregnant woman shouts: “Oh no, you did not just pull my hair!” Hair puller responds: “Well, you scratched me first.” I edge toward the security guard.
10.09 am: A group of women are found huddled in the menswear department, bartering their pile of items.
10.30 am: Staff paste a sign on the store’s window announcing part two of the Matthew Williamson collection will hit stores May 14.“
hahas!

Peacocks and butterflies are the obvious sources of inspiration. The explosion of colour, peacock feather motifs and butterfly prints are obvious hints.
Silk, seems to be a fitting fabric of choice, enhancing the brilliantly psychedelic colour palette chosen by designer, Matthew Williamson.
My personal favs from this exclusive capsule collection include:

Silk Print Dress, HKD $2990. (S$580)
Cropped Sleeve Leather Jacket, HKD $1990. (S$380)

(Source)
Silk mix electric blue suit. Blazer, HKD $990 (S$190). Pant, HKD $699 (S$135).
Although I am not sure what occasion, I’d wear it to.. I like it a lot!

(Source)
Sequin Dress, HKD $1490 (S$290). Studded belt, HKD $ 399 (S$80).
I like this dress and belt combo best!! I’d wear it everyday. (or at least till it starts to smell
hehes.)
(All Singapore Dollar conversions from the listed Hong Kong Dollar prices are based on estimates provided by this website.)
Since, I’m not in Hong Kong (or physically near any other H&M outlet) and that the collection is probably also sold out and culminated with the fact that I have a serious wallet deficit after my Aldo splurge, these items all fall very nicely into my imaginary closet.
Paid for with my imaginary money. *sigh*. :/

Whenever I see a new collection, thought bubbles magically surface, letters dissolve-appear (ala cheesy powerpoint slides animation), unscramble and words form in the air.

Martin Lamothe Spring 2009
Pantone, pastel, pyjamas, kimono, boating, lofty, OMG-I-want-to-wear-these, oversized long bloomers?, go fly kite, :O (yawn face – not because it’s boring but it looks comfy and sleepable-in)

Martin Lamothe Fall 2009
Wispy hair, wispy fringe, wispy legs (are those temporary tattoos, make-up or tights?), varicose veins (HAHAH), mean masculine loafers, why no heels? (hooray!), dinosaurs (see the flappy fins in the first two looks)
Here’s something more coherent about the designer, Elena Martin, for you ponder over.
What is fashion for?
Fashion makes you fell as you want to feel, it embodies who you are if you need to express it in any way. Fashion responds to the need for aesthetics in every layer of yourself.
If you were not a fashion designer, what would you be?
Difficult to say, I have wanted want to be this since I can remember. I have studied art history and I am very fond of history also. Music is my dream, but my way of expressing it is fashion.
What are you proud of ?
Of the colours and the textiles, of searching for something else.
What are you ashamed of ?
Almost everything in every collection I have made, Everything can be better and that drives you crazy.
If you could keep just one garment or accessory, which one would you pick?
Yes , of coures, my capes, that are the pantone range of the collection and my inspiration.
What do you no longer believe in?
I am still believing everything is possible ! and I believe in everything and everyone.
What do you still believe in?
As I said, in everything. But amongst everything I believe In the inspiration, in the idea or history to develop in the collection.

When we start getting or are ignorant about things that concern us, it takes something startling to get us on.
Go Red for Women aims to raise awareness of heart disease in women because we are just as easily susceptible but more difficult to diagnose.

Mastercard and the Singapore Heart Foundation got hold of some designers from around the region (like hansel, nicholas, nikicio, koops) to create little red dresses to make not just a fashion statement, but a striking reminder and strong social statement.
So Go Red for Women, oogle at these ruby babies, make a bid, and remember to take good care of your heart!

Nic Wong of nicholas with his design
It’s so dangerously short it almost shouldn’t be called a dress but it’s so quirky cute in the shape and in the drapes. Or maybe the model’s just too tall…

The designers from Reckless Ericka and their wonderful design
Kudos to them because I think they did the most in terms of styling, plus that dress must have been a bit of an itch to make! Red dress + black (strappy/pumps) heels gets a bit boring…
I love this dress the most. The fact that it was a darker, broodier red made it stand out from the chilli red the rest of the designers used.
More pics!

There were cute accents all over. The grey turban, how the colour goes with the tights and. Low combat boots, voodoo-doll like choker. Kinda tribal, kinda raw, kinda messy, kinda cool.

The eyes may be the window to the soul for most of us, but for photographer Geritt Starczewski, he takes the bottom-up approach and turns to shoes to tell tales.
“The most important in a look are for me the shoes. Shoes betray something about the personality, about the character. “

He takes photos of mostly pop musicians during live performances, but always no higher than the knee.
They’re in mid-step, they’re worn, sometimes tattered, they stand out, they overtake the picture.

Sometimes you can sense that the musician is dancing, slightly nervous, with feet turned inwards, or trying to pump the crowd, with a foot on the monitor.

She’s wearing happy tights and ballet flats – could you tell the genre? He’s wearing shiny red leather shoes – quite the showman eh?
“Many musicians are styled perfectly and everything is produced when they come on the stage. However, I have discovered a weakness in them; their shoes. With the help of the shoe you can draw conclusions about the music and the personality without knowing who is in these shoes.”

What does this say?
Do you recognize your musicians from their feet? Or can you tell what music they make?
Granted, I don’t know some of them but it was fun to imagine!

Coloured stripes tee from Uniqlo, random black skinny scarf, bubble wrap accessory from 164cm in Siam Square Bangkok, long skinny studded belt from Giordano Concepts, pleat front pants from Giordano Ladies, patent pleather/suede jazz flats from Poco Poco in Chatuchak Weekend Market, Bangkok
I’ve been wanting a pair of pants that I can wear for formal presentations and all that shiz in school, and also wear on a day to day basis without looking like an office lady who wears black pants with everything.
I’ve been like a vulture stalking Baylene’s past season stock of pants. I must have tried ALL of the designs available but they all fit weirdly at the crotch.. I think it has to do with the flat front.
Simple equation. No flat tummy + fat thighs = no go for flat front pants.
It took me ages to find these but I’m glad I took so long. I bought these pair of pleat front pants from Giordano Ladies on a 50% discount for $80. I’ve been wearing them for 2 days straight because I love how they fit and feel. (O no I’m becoming an office lady)
Anyway. Just a little post to say that I’m working towards a wardrobe made of pieces I really really love! What the_kitten said in this post made me pretty psyched!
Sarah just added a pair of shoes she really really loves to her wardrobe. I’ve never heard her talk so much (or act so swiftly!) about a pair of shoes.
Sure I’ll only be added pieces that I really really love.. but should I be detoxing the wardrobe too? Would you?

Since late March, I have been preparing and wrapping up the last few weeks of school and all of my projects, presentations and assignments.
In addition, there has been a lot of studying/cramming/freaking out about the end-of-term examinations as they loomed closer and closer since two weeks ago.
Currently, I am left with a one-paper-left hurdle to cross before the summer holidays are upon me

and I can’t wait!!!
But, that’s not to say that things get easier after the finals… Nope. In fact, I anticipate being even more busy with a school trip to Israel, a sporting event and heavy involvement in Student Life activities.
However, in spite of all this school buzz, lingering at the back of my mind has been these!

Maunes by ALDO *ahhh… love. (((:
At 12pm yesterday afternoon, whilst taking a short break from studying about ‘Management of People at Work’, I devised a plan to eventually have these shoes in my possession.
Sarah’s plan to own a pair of Maunes
Step 1: Sit tight for 1.5 months
Step 2: Wait for the GREAT SINGAPORE SALE 2009 (that commences on 29 May)
Step 3: Wait/Hope the shoes go on discount
Step 4: BUY THEM, OWN THEM, LOVE THEM!!! (((:
My approach was very logical: I’ll wait out the one and a half months.
They’ll be nearing their end-of-season run. They’ll (hopefully) be on discount.
I’ll purchase them then. And save some cash while at it.
Foolproof right?
Well,
The boyfriend and I had dinner at Suntec City in the evening. And I wanted to show him these shoes that I’ve been gushing about. We went to the store and !!!
They weren’t there! O.O!!!
If you heard (and felt) this loud ‘thud!’ at 8.45pm yesterday, that was my heart hitting the ALDO store floor.
I stood at the shelf and stared for at least a full minute. Did I imagine the shoes? There were similar designs but stiletto versions and the Maunes were nowhere to be seen. ):
I asked the staff. He made some calls. I think I said “I’ll die if they are sold out or don’t have my size”. I’m not too sure. I was in despair. It was all a blur.
Then, the magic words:
“Ma’am, we have one pair left in size 39 and 40 at the Raffles City outlet.”
RESERVED. THEM. FOR. ME. NOW. PLEASE. (!!!)
Ok! Chuck the plan out the door. Must have them now!
Went over to Raffles City. The staff had reserved the wrong pair of shoes. (?!) But not wanting to endure that ordeal again,
I bought them.

*insert radiating glow and aura here*
(:

As compared with the internet images I’ve pulled which feature the shoe in suede, this pair is made of leather. And I really love how the wedge joins and molds with the rest of the shoe.
Expect to see them with a many future outfit photos

A (very) distant time ago, I managed to catch the music video of ‘Nevermind Me’ by Maria Mena.
If you’ve never heard of her, I don’t blame you. I’ve only seen her video twice. Once, in full, and the other was a smidgen of the ending :/ Yet, there was something about the video…

(Source)

(Source)
It showed her wandering around the place in a bear (?) costume, searching for this guy dressed in a cow costume.
Plus the song (and the rest of her music) is very nice! But her CDs are hard to find. ):
Anyway, my reason for posting was to share this image of a necklace she purchased and posted on her official, though sporadically updated, blog.

The teal flowers are so fat and juicy-looking! Doesn’t it remind you of mangosteen?!

I am hardly capable of any mischief… really. I never skipped school, I never played pranks (not even on April’s Fool Day), I never retorted to what any teacher had to say, I never snuck out of the house…
But I have a pair of pants that do! They like to get some hanky panky on.

Short at the sides, long at the front and back, low waisted, very roomy, very wide-legged.

Don’t I look like an apparition in a murky room that needs salvation?
If I’m not wrong, they’re called handkerchief pants by Hansel, and you probably can tell from the square shape it makes when held up in the second photo. I got them for $15 at a sale at felt last year. Steal!
If I could dance, I’d wear them to jazz or lyrical practice. But because I can’t, I would jump, but I can’t jump today because I’m achy from trying out yoga on youtube.
(I look like an elephant doing it compared to the instructor in the video.. If you do yoga, you’d know that there’s a pose called downward-facing down where you make a triangle with your butt in the air and hands and feet on the floor. I looked in the mirror and it looked more like a trapezium! Whatever that shape I was supposed to do.. Sigh.)
Last day at school tomorrooooooow!
