Outfit photo!
From the Parco@Millenia Media party and Pull and Bear events.
And taken at Changi Airport Terminal 3
busy busy day!!

Cool black drape-y long sleeve top: Abyzz by Desmond Yang
Navy Tank top: Uniqlo
Grey jeans: Dorothy Perkins
Boots: Charles and Keith
Bag: random Far East Plaza shop
Necklaces: from Perth and Israel
Malleable bracelet: gift from Jo
Rings: from Jordan and Pull & Bear
Pardon my inept description of the Abyzz top.
Basically, the sleeves have corners so that it creates a cool drape effect.

See!
Its a new purchase, I have to show it off!
:D:D
And my friends, helpful as they were holding up the sleeves and taking the photo all, were singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and re-enacting scenes from Titanic (“I’m flying Jack, I’m flying!!!”) as this photo was being taken.
They also kept trying to steal my accessories.. “Sarah, may I see your ring/bracelet?”
Hand it to them and 2 seconds later… “Thanks Sarah! See! Sarah just gave me her ring/bracelet? Nice right? “
Hahas.
Love ya’ll anyways!

A name can be quite deceiving.
And Pull and Bear‘s most certainly is.

Their look and layout and all-around vibe always gave me the impression it was a very ‘up’ brand. Like it competes with Bread & Butter, attracting people who are willing to part with upwards of $300 for a pair of (freakin’!!!) jeans.
I think its got something to do with the fact that they both have a similar formula to their names:
‘(Random word 1) AND (Random word 2)’
Bread AND Butter. Pull AND Bear. see!? hahas.
Anyway…

Upon receiving the email invite, my interest was piqued despite knowing full well that there was already a slew of things to do on the same day.
Plus, a friend of mine had recently lamented and raved about Pull and Bear products so I just had to RSVP.

They seem to have taken inspiration from their own designs…

And stacked this mountain of old televisions, looping random videos mixed with live feeds of people walking past the entrance.

Food was a-flowing at the event. Which was really great because I was starving!! I managed to snap up a Snapple and there was even Red Rock Deli chips (which you must try at least once in your life)!!!
Ok. back to the clothes.

Tees cost between $30 to $40… from what I saw. And as you can see from the corner of the photo, jeans start at $90.

Their graphics were quite interesting. And the materials felt good.

I quite liked this top and all its emo-ness.

And this sequinned leopard print cropped coat was a steal at about $60.
But what I eventually left the store with was this ring. (:

I love how its not really a ring in the tradtional sense.

A series of cresent-shaped metal pieces linked to a skinnier U-shape to make this ring.
I love the feeling that its finger armour and also strangely reminds me of a walnut. I’m not too sure why. hahas.
And after pouring through their catalogue, which they so kindly provided, I have fallen in love with this ring too!

But I didn’t see it in the store ):
I guess its not meant to be…

Thursday was an exceptionally crazy day. And it didn’t help that I’ve been bitten by the flu bug. Yes. In my fevered state, I was still at Zouk till 3am.
I crashed on the couch at home later..
Which led my mom to ask the next morning, ‘Why is it that a third of your nights are spent on the couch? Do you want me to get a better couch so that you sleep better???’ hahas.
Yet despite the couch crashing, I still feel sleep-deprived. (Track training DOES NOT HELP btw!)

I’ll upload and update on the blog-able events..
Patience, young grasshopper. Stay tuned!

This reminds me…

Mahjong, anyone?
I wonder if it’s anymore satisfying playing with a set of tiles from Maison Martin Margiela. Wonder if the monochrome will slow me down too, haha.
Damn, they sure know how to please those Hong Kongers.

BTW, I’M GOING TO HK AGAIN!

Triumph has jumped onto the Green bandwagon and is lobbying for Ecof-fashion – where Conscience meets Fashion.
If you head down to unmentionables (aka lingerie) section of Tangs Orchard, Level 2… In the large(r) clearing just yonder of the Triumph counter, you’ll be pleasantly greeted by this display setup. (:

Using wood and dried bamboo as the stands, shelving and display counters, they’ve decked out their eco-friendly line, Ecochic.

Promising to balance fashion and fit while pledging to use only sustainable, natural materials, you can find out more about the concept behind Ecochic, view the collection, watch their commercial or even download promotional media here.
In addition, they’ve launched a micro-site especially for Ecochic with the purpose of having an online portal for fashion and eco-conscious women to meet and share their stories.
Not forgetting, also on the Ecochic calendar is a Green Workshop. Scheduled to take place at the Dressing Room @ Tangs Orchard, Level 2 on 29 August, Saturday. Registration starts at 2pm and the first 50 customers to make Ecochic purchases will get a goodie bag.

Doubt these cute hangers will be part of the goodie bag though.. hahas. (I’d want them!)

The Ecochic line bears the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 stamp, which according to dear ol’ Wiki, serves as a quality assurance tool for the manufacturer, testing for the absence of harmful substances like farm drugs, pesticides and excessively harmful dyes.
Instead, they’ve injected colour into the collection, using natural dyes to provide some variety and even went through the pains of weaving a striped fabric specially for this collection.
Who doesn’t love variety?!

Well, the kind people at Triump gave this camisole and shorts combo to try out, in the natural-dye striped fabric (that wasn’t on display, so I have NO clue how much it retails for…).

And although camis aren’t usually my thing, the fit and feel was very comfortable (I slept very soundly that night
). It didn’t feel like the straps were biting into me. The material had a lot of stretch and didn’t cling to my skin. And the fabric felt like a thicker (better quality) version of cotton jersey but with an additional subtle, but comfortable, textured feel.

Top: Ecochic by Triump Camisole Top, in striped fabric
(Inner) Bottoms (not seen): Ecochic by Triumph Shorts, in striped fabric
(Outer) Bottoms: Giraffe-print Pajamas pants
Arm candy: Crocodile

And despite the chilly Saturday night rain and even with arms completely exposed, I was nice and warm. (:

Wottoncool <3s Mother Earth,
love her too (:

According to Wikipedia:
“Bershka is a company belonging to the Spanish Inditex group (owner of Zara), that was created in April 1998 as a new store and fashion concept, aimed at a young target market. It now has 508 stores in 36 countries, including Spain, France, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Russia, Croatia, Montenegro, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Belgium, Colombia, Portugal, Poland, Guatemala, Ireland, Slovenia, Serbia, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Romania, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, El Salvador, Latvia, Venezuela, Estonia, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.“
Where is Singapore? *pouts* ))):
Ok, not like it really bothers me much.
Jo and I attended the Launch Party, held on a Thursday evening. I got a bit (very!) lost trying to find the place in the abyss of ION Orchard’s basementzzz! They should make it a rule that all stores indicate their unit number, regardless of how atas the store is! grr!
Anyway…
[Disclaimer: the following photos were taken using my mobile phone camera... so if the quality sucks, sorry!]

There were people aplenty packed into the plush psychedelic place. There was a DJ spinning music, live. The place felt like a club, with clothes…

And not forgetting happy foods!
Cottoncandy, Oreos, Pocky (<3!), mentos, potato chips, Lollipops, M&Ms, water, Coke, Sprite, Snapple (which got snapped up real quick)… all for us guests to munch on as we combed the store.
Not forgetting,

Bershka Ramly Burgers, which were right next to…

Alcohol.
Muslim food next to alcohol. Subtle.
Moving on…
Their clothes walls are quite nicely arranged.

Although not everything was within reach. :/

The clothing has a lot of mass market appeal. Graphic tees, Pseudo-already-worn-by-someone-for-two-years ‘new’ jeans, dresses, short skirts, vests etc.
There were two drop-crotch pants that were interesting. Jeans with lace imprint/spray-paint(?) detail. And sequinned short skirt.

(excuse Jo’s candid face
)

My only (sorry!) photo of some of the other bloggers..
Hello Carlos, Ridwan, Dinie, Nina, X-wen, Nicole and Qin. (:
We were all chilling and rubbing shoulders with the shoes when Analog Girl started her shiz..

It took awhile for everyone to sort of gravitate towards her… and after oogling at her create beats/sounds with her passe of electronic gadgets (which was cool yet perplexing)

The models joined her shortly after.

And it wasn’t your traditional show… Rather than have the models, tall and visible above all our short heads, but far from the audience on the elevated stage…

The models weaved through the crowds to stand on small platforms scattered throughout the store, allowing an up-close-and-personal view of the clothes… (makes ‘em models sound like animals at the zoo eh? hahas)

The finale was also quite fun and energetic with the models eating some of the snacks as they walked and danced around the store. (so the do eat!!!)

After the fashion show, they also had a beatboxer do his thang. Kudos to the professionalism shown despite the crappy mike that died twice. :/

with vouchers in hand, I went around hunting for something…

And i thought these shoes were really lovely. Psuedo suede, flats with perfurations nonetheless. But at $129 before discount… The stars didn’t align for this purchase. *sigh…

Went out with Jo for a bit of window shopping, and I saw a Charles & Keith bag that just beckoned me. (I had dazed, glazed, borderline-crazeh eyes O.O!)
But, I resisted.
(:
Yay! for me resisting temptation and walking away empty-handed and with wallet and bank account still in tact
And naturally, the next best alternative is to oogle at it on the online catalogue.
Instead, I ALSO found this…

WANT.THIS.BELT.NOW!!!
is it not the coolestest thing everrr?!
lusting (:

Here’s what Jo wore to Uniqlo’s press preview.

Striped dress, Topshop. Polka dot jacket in reverse colours inside, Church’s $1 thrift store. Bubble wrap and striped jersey neck thing, Bangkok.
Excuse my act cute face.
Oh clashing prints, how original. I just needed a confusing amalgamation of patterns to hide my burgeoning tummy… And bum, and fat legs.
Tata!
