This is a completely random and non-fashion-related post, but I really want to share it with you all.
About two weeks back, okto had a show about Cotton Wool kids.
It caught my attention simply cos you don’t see the words ‘Cotton Wool’ all too often in the newspaper and by chance, I managed to catch about half of it that evening.
Cotton Wool kids are, simply put, very very protected kids living in (what I assume is) the UK.
I think their parents’ concern for the safety and protection of their children is very genuine and sincere, to an extent perhaps even applaudable that they go to such lengths to want to protect their children.
But when I watched the program, I felt a bit sad for these children. Especially from the crew asked them what they defined ‘freedom’ to be.
In the video, the ‘Madeleine’ the little girl refer to is probably Madeleine McCann who disappeared in 2007. (You can read more about her case here)
Granted, any child abductions cases are cases too many.
And most of the families featured were driven by this fear of their children being abducted, abused or bullied. They even teach their kids to be weary of strangers (as they should), but in my opinion, really take it to the extreme…
When the daughters start pointing out people on the street as ‘possible abductors’ I get a bit frightened. I worry that she’ll never be able to talk to new people because of this fear that has been ingrained in her from young :/
And when the sisters play with dolls and ‘relationship’ is of abductor and abductee. Gosh. :/ I can’t help but wonder: Is that the only ‘relationship’ she’ll ever know? Thank goodness she has a sibling to talk to though. There were some kids in the program who didn’t appear to have any play mate within the family to accompany them. And some of the older kids did communicate their sadness at not being allowed to play with other kids. (like the little girl in the first video, cooped up in the backyard, de-leafing the entire fence as she talks to the camera crew)
Its not shown in either clip, but there was also a short segment whereby one of the mothers brought her children to see a doctor for a consultation. This consultation was regarding getting GPS chips implanted into the children so she’d always know their whereabouts through an computer online satellite tracking system. o.O!
I can’t help but think: this cannot be healthy, growing up. :/

My family flew to New Zealand for a holiday (without me since I have exams and another trip planned).
Mom insisted that it’d be very cold even though its summer there.
Figures, since they plan on climbing a glacier.
After pulling out whatever warm knitwear they could find round the house to bring along, I found this black and white sleeveless striped knit top that wasn’t so lucky and had to stay here in Singapore with me.

In its own old and worn way, I like it.
Especially how the borders are is greyed and seems to have faded with age (or so I’d like to think, at least) (:
Worn together with map handkerchiefs from Muji and a patent skinny black belt from G2000.
Bagaholicboy mentioned these Muji hankies on his blog. When I saw them, had to have them.
Retail therapy, totally.
And at $11 each, they aren’t too pricey. Had to get 2 to get this effect though.
Need to find more creative ways of wearing them though. Any suggestions?

Warning: Photo-heavy post.
(And by the way, I am in dire need of a new camera. 3.2megapixels and a battery that doesn’t even hold up for an afternoon event after charging it fully the night before is getting very annoying)

Anyway, the Shunji Matsuo unveiled his 2010 Collection at an intimate show for no more than 25 guests at Goodwood Park Hotel’s Presidential Marie Suite.
The suite setting added a lot of grandeur to the affair, with corinthian pillars, high-ceiling arches and large crystal chandeliers. In addition, the Shunji Matsuo team got two very talented young pianists to provide show music.
Models showed off his latest creations from Casual, to Colourful to Avant Garde Series.

It was a day before my International Economics paper, but I have no regrets attending (: I felt geeky though, cos I brought my Economics mindmaps to read while waiting for the event to start… Plus I did have some time to kill because I was slightly early for the event.

But smart me, arrives early and chooses the only seat that was blocked by the photographer. But I still managed to get some nice photos so I wasn’t too bothered by him. If you see his sleeve/arm blocking part of the photo.. oops! hahas. (:

Models were all wearing G2000 to complement the hairstyles.
And it wasn’t like the usual hair show (or at least my impression of one, since this is the first I’ve attended) whereby there are live demonstrations after demonstrations of model’s hair being cut in outlandish/this-will-be-the-look-that-everyone-will-supposedly-have-next-year styles.

Mr. Shunji Matsuo did do two short demonstrations to show how the hairstyles could be re-styled to create different looks.

Later on, I got a chance to meet his assistant, Comb. (I kid you not, he introduced himself as Comb) Who very proudly claimed credit for his DIY feathered headpiece to sit atop his fedora.
Check out more photos from the event!
And if you notice that some of the models look strangely familiar but are sporting completely different hair, that’s because they are!
It was only as the show started that we were all told that this Shunji Matsuo collection would feature Wigs (!), a new addition to the range of services already available by the Shunjo Matsuo team.
Prices of the wigs range from $500 to $1,500 depending on the length. I got to try one of them (I’ll post about that later!) And although my initial reaction is that its not very practical and applicable to us, Singaporeans (we always seem to have a ‘practical’ excuse to not be adventurous eh?!), the wig didn’t feel weird or eery to the touch (since it is made of natural hair) and when wearing it, felt very secure, tight even. And could possibly be fun for cool parties or nights out with friends when you want something a bit different or when you are having bad hair days! hahas.
The stylists were also giving advice and answering our questions about maintenance and all. According to them, wigs are very easy to wash and maintain. And are very light and travel-friendly. Furthermore, you can always bring your wig back to restyle if you get sick of the look, granted longer styles would have more options than shorter do.
As part of the gift pack, I’ve a got two-week free ‘trial’. I’m still contemplating if I should use it during the holidays. Hahas. Any suggestions on what look I should/could sport?!
There has been a flurry of fun events over the past month and Jo and I are so sorry for temporarily abandoning the blog for books. we’d like to try maintain decent CAPs and GPAs. hahas.
So really, thanks for being such troopers and checking back!
Anyway. Shunji Matsuo held a cosy and intimate affair at Goodwood Park Hotel’s Marie Suite, premiering his 2010 collection. More on that later. This is what I wore:

Cream with plum checks Scarf from Burberry
Peach embellished Tank from i-xclusive
Grey cotton jersey Top with long sash from Robinsons
Black diagonal cut Pants from Abyzz by Desmond Yang
Cream cut out Sandals and mustard paneled Bag from Charles and Keith
Necklace from mom
Bracelets from Heeren, Canada and Perth

Hi everyone! I’ll make this quick since I have an examination to sit for in less than 9 hours. Thanks so much for being patient with our lack of updates.
Jo and I are still drowning in exam week(s). But tomorrow I have a small window of opportunity to update! I promise to write as swiftly as I possibly can, hopefully faster than it takes for me to cough out 4 economics essays (*bleagh*) and with the wonders of wordpress’ schedule funtion, you’ll hopefully have some eye-candy to see and read in the week ahead.
Hang tight! And hope you are having a good week. (At least it isn’t raining as much as it was last week)
- Sarah, who should be studying.

Before hitting the books hard on Monday, attended a friend’s 21st birthday celebrations where we were all also celebrating the last day of school (and finishing my module assignment early!)
After dinner and before arriving at Double-O, we were all given glow-in-the-dark bracelets. The ones you buy in packs of 50 and only about 10 actually work well.
Usually, I wear them (good and not-so-good) in this random jumble… But this time, they were arranged in gradient. I quite like it! hahas
So totally random, but don’t you like my temporary bling?!
Had to make up for my blah outfit that night. (:

Dearest readers,
Jo and I seek your kind understanding as we disappear from the face of the earth and delve deep deep down into our readings, textbooks, note, lecture slides; lock ourselves away in the library/a very quiet corner and study our backsides off for the looming examinations happening in the next two weeks.
Sporadically, when we are in dire need of regaining our sanity, away from Market Research, Service Processes, Org Change and Design, Finance and the likes, we’ll definitely update (:
Thank you for being ever-so-patient and understanding.
Much Love,
Wottoncool

If you saw me in school yesterday…
Other than the fact that my Charles and Keith bag strap spoiled, forcing me to carry it as a tote although I am certain the short handles make my bag heavier :/
And other than the fact that its week 13 (aka last week of school!!!yay!) and my friends could tell I was noticeably happier (:
Photoboothed in class while there was a presentation going on. oops!
Well, so other than these things, if you saw me yesterday…

I was in jeans!
Ok.
So it might not be a big deal to everyone. But it was for me! Hahas. (: I don’t usually wear jeans. Haven’t worn this pair in 3 years. but HAD to wear them for a school presentation.
We had coordinated outfits for the presentation yo!.
I’m thinking of having the length altered so I don’t sweep the floor as I walk and make the fit more straight-cut versus flare and also considering trying some DIY bleaching.
My school term is nearly up!! (;
But it means that exams approach :/
will this work ever end? ):

Yes, it was ten past six when we shot these pictures. It was a longgggg day at school before that! These pictures are actually our own interpretations of Puma’s new Create Your Style campaign.

Well, um, our pictures did turn out quite different from the originals. We kinda got carried away with the drawing. I think we took a whole half an hour? Haha. Kinda silly actually, cos you can’t see the tremendous effort we put into cross-hatching and creating patterns zomg.
Check out the other people who were involved in this campaign remix on Puma’s facebook fan page, and look out for their new store in in 313 Somerset, come December 2009!
December sounds a really long time away, but hello it’s only only only 23 days away! Okay time for Christmas now.
