Chanel has had and, with utmost certainty, will continue to have an inexplicably alluring draw and charm. Be it an elegant simplicity in details or when making a statement or even with their confluence of inspiration, Chanel and designer, Karl Largerfeld garners nothing short of absolute admiration and awe.

And its nice to know that mammoth of a brand that they are, they know how to have some fun too.

Why?
May you ask?
Chanel’s Fall 2010 RTW showing makes me wanna take out teddy bears amassed from my childhood and perhaps another 100 childhood before, cut them up and sew them together into giant masses, tease and backcomb my hair and rip apart the next sequinned thing I find and glue ‘em babies onto my eyes for additional ‘smoky eye’ effect.

Yeti/Big Foot sighting anyone? (:

Yes, so the look IS undeniably OTT.

But when you break it down into separates, it ain’t so bad.

Eat dust UGGs! hehes

So what are you waiting for?!
Grab the next shag rugs, throw it over yourself and be done with it already! hahas.

I especially love the soft lighting and glow that everything has. I have the impression that anything is more forgiving with soft lighting and “glow”. hahas. Don’t you think so? (:

And these red balloons really tempt me. To take my own balloons shot. I don’t know why.

And pretty as this photo is. Don’t do this. It’s AIR POLLUTION. Serious. And Singapore is not exempt.

HP and MSN asks, what my vision of the Future Is,
The world is changing.
How do I know?
I read about Alexander McQueen’s death on BBC World and OneSixtyNotepad’s Twitter feed before reading it on The Straits Times.

Being a blogger now comes with a greater degree of credibility.
Bloggers were included in the Selection Committee for the first time, amidst heated debate, for the annual Council of Fashion Designers in America (CFDA) Fashion Awards.

Furthermore, taking a step out of the blogging circle,
Fashion is no longer constrained to the realm of privileged aristocracy of the early 1900s and times before,

and the wealthy shopped (typically) only twice a year – for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter’s latest wardrobe essentials from big-name fashion houses.

Now,
Fashion is for the masses.
As Miranda Priestly in Devil Wears Prada said,
“This… ‘stuff’?
Oh… ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don’t know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you’re trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back.
But what you don’t know is that that sweater is not just blue, it’s not turquoise, it’s not lapis, it’s actually cerulean. You’re also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar De La Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn’t it, who showed cerulean military jackets?
I think we need a jacket here.
And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of 8 different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic casual corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin.
However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it’s sort of comical how you think that you’ve made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you’re wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff.“

Mass market brands like Topshop, Mango, Zara and the likes are turning industry standards on it’s head with fast fashion all thanks to their strict control over supply chain.

With the aid of technology, the trickle-down effect from luxury brands to mass market knock-offs reaches the masses in record time, not without some controversy though. (Various internet sources cite between 15 to 21 days for runway looks to reach stores)
Moreover, celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker got Bitten by the fashion bug,
and declared Fashion is not a Luxury, offering pieces from her line for under US$20 each.
Gwen Stefani gave us Love.Angel.Music.Baby (L.A.M.B.)

the average middle-income fashionista can name-drop designers in their drawers instead of only admiring from afar, across the glossies of magazines.
With the aid of technology, fashion has become ever-so accessible now. Although coveted Fashion Week tickets to the world’s fashion capitals will continue to elude the average person (myself included),
Fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Rodarte, Alexander Wang, Dior Homme, Prada and Emporio Armani have jumped on the live streaming bandwagon, offering a real-time close-up view of their latest Spring/Summer 2010 collections that showed at runways during New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week much to the delight of millions of fans worldwide. And more are expected to follow suit.
Live streaming has been called “the new Black” and for the first time, the British Fashion Council found a necessity to publish a digital schedule of runway shows’ live streams.
The world is changing.
Wouldn’t you agree?
Two year ago, when two friends, very exasperated with studying Business, toyed with the idea of starting a fashion blog,
Had you told them then that it would result in meeting wonderful people like Fash-E, Bagaholicboy, OneSixtyNotepad, RockTheTrend, MyCherryMagazine, Trait, The Swirl Girls and Vogueite, just to name a few. (please don’t be offended if you aren’t mentioned. Much love, respect and admiration is still channeled your way still)
Had you told them that they’d appear in The Straits Times, Urban.

Or asked to participate in Puma’s Create Your Style Campaign.
Or meet Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Director of Burberry.
Or share a photobooth moment with Liu Wen.
We would have laughed it off as a joke.
However, in the past two years, these things have happened and I am ever-so thankful to all the people who have helped make it happen.
Thank you.
And going back to the question of what my vision of the future is?
Well, I can only hope that its one filled with a lot more opportunities, surprises and smiles, not just for myself or for Wottoncool alone, but for everyone.
Cheers.

Demi Moore in a Harper’s Bazaar April 2010 (US Edition) Shoot.
I want my own crazy-too-many-balloon shot too *jealous*.
But more importantly, going through the spread I notice a lot of larger-than-life props that are just too cute!

Russian dolls, anyone? (:
Can you imagine if they really opened up till the dolls here like a fingernail high?! Hahas. Who needs garden ornaments or topiaries when you can have giant russian dolls.
And I have a strong sensing that this was edited, but wouldn’t it be funny to have a giant chair too? hahas.
Sorry, I’m just very amused by the over-sized chair.

Sarah celebrated turning 22 (!) on Wednesday.
And I’ve gotta thank my friends for going through the extra pains to meet my irrational likes this week. <3!
The week started off with a high tea treat at the uber swank Equinox at Swissotel The Stamford.
Thank you Sentil. Must have cost a bomb.

I wouldn’t mind a TWG Tea corner in my house too (;
hehs.
On Wednesday,
I was in school for a full day of meetings and work-related stuff. My exco got me a cake (that I only saw 2 days later. Stole this photo off facebook).

Hahas. This requires a bit of explanation…
I never saw my cake in it’s pristine un-cut form (as shown above) cos I don’t typically like to have my own birthday cake, for a very irrational reason that I shan’t delve into now.
How I like cake, is when everyone has a slice. With a lit candle each. And sing to one another. So it looks like its everyone’s birthday. I find it more fun and pleasant this way.
So.
They actually went through the pains of dividing the cake first before serving it.
In addition, because someone stole all the staplers from our work room, I felt very impaired with the lack of a the proper stationary around for me to do my work efficiently. Resorting to paperclips and scavenger hunting for stuff. And had been lamenting for the entire week about how crippled I felt without the stationary around, they got me a whole box of stationary, labeled with my name and all (: Most thoughtful and unexpected present ever.
Thank you 10th SMUSA Exco! Much love
<3!
After this cake surprise, I rushed off to meet another group of friends.
I knew something was up. But just played along.
My instructions were to meet at Potong Pasir MRT.
Then I got blindfolded and whisked away. My friend drove round in circles. We even stopped for water (with me still blindfolded) cos the germ gods gave me a flu and fever on my birthday as well.
Then drove even more till we reached…
My boyfriend’s condo, where another group of school friends surprised me and we had a small barbeque. (: A few people ps-ed, thus the gap in the photo… to tag them. Can’t blame them though, they were not feeling well too.
Good food, Great Company. Thank you SFs +1, OCD and Bren. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. (:
Lastly,
What’s a birthday without presents?! (:
Bren got me a Tiffany and Co. Hammered Ring.
Simple and understated. And he got it 2 weeks earlier because the very nice staff at the Raffles Hotel store told me they would be conducting their annual upward re-valuation of all stock by the end of that week.
Dad got me a Blackberry Bold 9700.
And I’m waiting for the data plan to kick in. Slurps. Then I’ll be on facebook and twitter on the go! (((:
Then this last item wasn’t an intended present. But the school had a lucky draw and guess what?! I won! (:
I’m now the proud owner of a Sony Cyerbershot DSC-T90, in a very sexy and very me colour – aqua blue. (:
Last on my wishlist is a skincare regime, as a treat and investment for myself.
I’m considering between
Shu Uemura (which seriously has the best marketing),

SK-II (with 90% Pitera)
And Olay (couldn’t find a sexier image to represent the brand).
Any recommendations/personal experiences to share?

Remember this? Abyzz by Desmond Yang transformational top/pants worn to the Uniqlo store preview at Tampines1, as blogged about here?
As much as I love them, it was such a struggle to move around in them today for several reasons.
1. The buttons that cascade diagonally down one side (front and back) kept coming undone just because I’m moving. Don’t want no Superbowl moment yo!
2. Sitting on hard surfaces (i.e. Bus stops, Mrt seats, School discussion rooms, Library, Canteen, Foodcourt etc) was like sitting on 5 or 6 foot reflexology pebbles only on my right butt check. P.A.I.N.F.U.L.L.! Subconsciously or otherwise, I am certain I still feel the knobbly pressure from the buttons.
3. The uber long sleeves aka pant legs kept dragging on the floor because I paired them with flats today. And despite multiple attempts and variations to hike them up, they would not stay and after walking another 4 steps would hit the floor faster than lead. ):
I was left with this awkward position of pant legs that were too long and restricted my movement for fear of exposing my underwear to the world.
If you’ve already asked two dozen times Why? I’d wear something that such a hassle.
Sorry.
I’m vain.
Deal with it.
;p
But!
That being said. I also have my limits.
Finally went to the washroom, whipped out a wand, and voila!

I made me a skirt yo!
Pulled the sleeve through and tucked them into the elastic hem. Turned the skirt so that the buttons would form a ‘V’ pattern down the front (no more button pressure points!) and unbuttoned the ‘neckline’ so that my feet had space.

Edited look. More comfortable look! <3

Strangest thing? No one realized the change.

Here are some of the others girls at the competition briefing.
