WOTTONCOOL

Distraction Attraction

As project deadlines, presentations and examinations loom closer and closer, I find myself becoming more easily distracted. And as a third-year business student, I find myself losing steam and facing increasing difficulty drawing strength and motivation from whatever high powers to stop procrastinating and getting my work done. hahas!

For a larger part of these past 2 months, after reading ‘The Starbucks Experience’, I’ve become brainwashed and willing to spend up to $7 on a cup of coffee.

Picture 001

And yet reluctant to spend $4 on a proper meal. wth? right?!

Also, ONLINE SHOPPING!! who can forget that?!

Picture 009

Add i-xclusive to your list of online shops.

I got this Peach Crystal Racerback Tank cos I’ve been looking for something (else) to match my Zambesi alibaba pants which you can see here!

Their wares are sourced from the nearby region and not only do they sell to normal people like you and me. They also do wholesale business, selling to other online shops.

Cut out the middleman! Buy direct from the source!!! hahas.

I like how their stuff is basic but with a twist. Not as commercial and mass market as some other online stores, but still with its own appeal.

Mai dong xi, he dong xi!

(Buy something, Drink something!)

Remember my Tamagochi?

Picture 021

The egg/plant/gift thing from Triump EcoChic?

Picture 042

These photos are long overdue and totally not reflective of what the plant/egg looks like now, but here is a photojournal of the egg’s growth :D

Picture 001

Breaking out from the nut/seed within the egg…

Picture 006

Picture 007

It grew taller!

Picture 008

If it looks like there is text on the side of the top/bulb-thing (I’m sure there is some weird scientific name for it, but i don’t really care. sorry. shoot me)

It made me so perplexed how there could be text on the bulb-thing.. the other side said ‘Triumph’!!!

Anyway, I have photos of the plant first 2 leaves. Will upload and update soon… (photos are still in my phone)

<3!

Love mother nature please!

Remember Tamagochis?

Those tiny toy-things where you could raise and take care of an electronic pet. Feed it, play with it and clean up after it. Find out one day that it unexpectedly dies and simply re-hatch it and repeat the process?

I remember when tamagochis were all the rage.

Some kids brought them to school to show off. Other kids, myself included, oogled at kids showing off. Feelings of jealousy and envy are not healthy at the tender age of 9 and 10.

I also remember the school banning them within the week that they hit the market cos theft cases shot through the roof. :/

Then along came to likes of cheap(er) imitations and variations as well as alternatives like the Digimon series..

Well, I have to say that its a very tamagochi-esque feeling…

Waiting and watching and tending to an egg as it hatches into some mysterious creature of origins unknown.

Picture 021

This time, its not happening in the virtual world

Picture 001

It is beyond me how they get a seed embedded in an egg shell. But I’m so thoroughly amused!

Picture 002

And when I asked Melissa what type of plant it was, she said she wasn’t sure herself.

Whats life without surprises eh?! :D

Picture 028Picture 029

I got home and immediately got to ‘hatching’ my ecoegg.

Picture 030

Picture 036Picture 042

The step-by-step instructions at the back of the box are quite straightforward and idiot-proof.

As the days go by…

Camera battery and failing memory permitting, I’ll update regularly on my ‘Tamagochi’s growth.

Today, its first 2 leaves spouted! (:

More photos soon.

Let me formally introduce you to Jooks.

Picture 003

Don’t be fooled by their pseudo PAP veneer (although that was my parents’ first reactions. hahas)

Let me try to set it up for you.

a. People (assumingly, Singaporeans) backpacked through Spain

b. Crossed paths with casual, comfy shoes called Espadrilles.

c. Loved them so much they were compelled to share the love.

d. Came back to Singapore, pooled resources together to facilitate love-sharing (and money-making!)

So, mathematically:

a. + b. + c. + d. = Jooks!

Picture 021

So these are what Jook’s Espadrilles look like. Although I highly doubt there is much variation… made of jute rope and canvas, these are like non-waterproof slipper substitutes.

Yes. On my second day of wearing them, I got rained in on ))):

They make a great travel companion, storing quite flat. Especially in comparison with other shoes.

Picture 004Picture 007

They fold away to the thickness of the soles, which is approximately 1.5cm tops.

And if the earthiness of my Lightbrown Eyes don’t float your boat, you can always order them in wacky colours like Gang Green, Blue Balls, Coral Sex or Red Indian! hahas.

My favourite?

Navyblue Dabadeebabadie! (:

And till Friday, you can get them at $18 a pop. Instead of the dreary ol’ usual price of $25.90…

Picture 051

Wore them to school on Monday.. (So excuse the tired, deer-in-headlights, expressionless face… 7 hours of class does that to me.)

Graphic t-Shirt: originally had a White tank top… but experienced a ‘Mustard Moment’ :/ it was highlighter-yellow!!!, I had to change my top and this was the only spare.
Jacket with detachable badges: Uniqlo
Slouchy linen pants, cuffed: Giordano
Striped bag: gift from Mom
Shoes: Jooks

May Eco(nomy) Triumph!

Triumph has jumped onto the Green bandwagon and is lobbying for Ecof-fashion – where Conscience meets Fashion.

If you head down to unmentionables (aka lingerie) section of Tangs Orchard, Level 2… In the large(r) clearing just yonder of the Triumph counter, you’ll be pleasantly greeted by this display setup. (:

Image0118

Using wood and dried bamboo as the stands, shelving and display counters, they’ve decked out their eco-friendly line, Ecochic.

Image0119

Promising to balance fashion and fit while pledging to use only sustainable, natural materials, you can find out more about the concept behind Ecochic, view the collection, watch their commercial or even download promotional media here.

In addition, they’ve launched a micro-site especially for Ecochic with the purpose of having an online portal for fashion and eco-conscious women to meet and share their stories.

Not forgetting, also on the Ecochic calendar is a Green Workshop. Scheduled to take place at the Dressing Room @ Tangs Orchard, Level 2 on 29 August, Saturday. Registration starts at 2pm and the first 50 customers to make Ecochic purchases will get a goodie bag.

Image0121

Doubt these cute hangers will be part of the goodie bag though.. hahas. (I’d want them!)

Image0123

The Ecochic line bears the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 stamp, which according to dear ol’ Wiki, serves as a quality assurance tool for the manufacturer, testing for the absence of harmful substances like farm drugs, pesticides and excessively harmful dyes.

Instead, they’ve injected colour into the collection, using natural dyes to provide some variety and even went through the pains of weaving a striped fabric specially for this collection.

Who doesn’t love variety?!

Picture 007

Well, the kind people at Triump gave this camisole and shorts combo to try out, in the natural-dye striped fabric (that wasn’t on display, so I have NO clue how much it retails for…).

Picture 011

And although camis aren’t usually my thing, the fit and feel was very comfortable (I slept very soundly that night :) ). It didn’t feel like the straps were biting into me. The material had a lot of stretch and didn’t cling to my skin. And the fabric felt like a thicker (better quality) version of cotton jersey but with an additional subtle, but comfortable, textured feel.

Picture 018

Top: Ecochic by Triump Camisole Top, in striped fabric

(Inner) Bottoms (not seen): Ecochic by Triumph Shorts, in striped fabric

(Outer) Bottoms: Giraffe-print Pajamas pants

Arm candy: Crocodile

Picture 019

And despite the chilly Saturday night rain and even with arms completely exposed, I was nice and warm. (:

Picture 023

Wottoncool <3s Mother Earth,

love her too (:
