Warning: Photo-heavy post.
(And by the way, I am in dire need of a new camera. 3.2megapixels and a battery that doesn’t even hold up for an afternoon event after charging it fully the night before is getting very annoying)

Anyway, the Shunji Matsuo unveiled his 2010 Collection at an intimate show for no more than 25 guests at Goodwood Park Hotel’s Presidential Marie Suite.
The suite setting added a lot of grandeur to the affair, with corinthian pillars, high-ceiling arches and large crystal chandeliers. In addition, the Shunji Matsuo team got two very talented young pianists to provide show music.
Models showed off his latest creations from Casual, to Colourful to Avant Garde Series.

It was a day before my International Economics paper, but I have no regrets attending (: I felt geeky though, cos I brought my Economics mindmaps to read while waiting for the event to start… Plus I did have some time to kill because I was slightly early for the event.

But smart me, arrives early and chooses the only seat that was blocked by the photographer. But I still managed to get some nice photos so I wasn’t too bothered by him. If you see his sleeve/arm blocking part of the photo.. oops! hahas. (:

Models were all wearing G2000 to complement the hairstyles.
And it wasn’t like the usual hair show (or at least my impression of one, since this is the first I’ve attended) whereby there are live demonstrations after demonstrations of model’s hair being cut in outlandish/this-will-be-the-look-that-everyone-will-supposedly-have-next-year styles.

Mr. Shunji Matsuo did do two short demonstrations to show how the hairstyles could be re-styled to create different looks.

Later on, I got a chance to meet his assistant, Comb. (I kid you not, he introduced himself as Comb) Who very proudly claimed credit for his DIY feathered headpiece to sit atop his fedora.
Check out more photos from the event!
And if you notice that some of the models look strangely familiar but are sporting completely different hair, that’s because they are!
It was only as the show started that we were all told that this Shunji Matsuo collection would feature Wigs (!), a new addition to the range of services already available by the Shunjo Matsuo team.
Prices of the wigs range from $500 to $1,500 depending on the length. I got to try one of them (I’ll post about that later!) And although my initial reaction is that its not very practical and applicable to us, Singaporeans (we always seem to have a ‘practical’ excuse to not be adventurous eh?!), the wig didn’t feel weird or eery to the touch (since it is made of natural hair) and when wearing it, felt very secure, tight even. And could possibly be fun for cool parties or nights out with friends when you want something a bit different or when you are having bad hair days! hahas.
The stylists were also giving advice and answering our questions about maintenance and all. According to them, wigs are very easy to wash and maintain. And are very light and travel-friendly. Furthermore, you can always bring your wig back to restyle if you get sick of the look, granted longer styles would have more options than shorter do.
As part of the gift pack, I’ve a got two-week free ‘trial’. I’m still contemplating if I should use it during the holidays. Hahas. Any suggestions on what look I should/could sport?!

I’m under the impression that large, bulbous things will mask even larger bulbous things (ie me and my newly enlarged self from non-stop gorging. I think I waste a lot of calories on bad food..).
But I think wrong.
Nonetheless, I love this black cardigan I got from H&M with sleeves that look like it’s breeding tumour cells.

Oops, sorry for the un-rotated pics.
When I got it, I was thinking maybe the volume on the sleeves will give an illusion that the bulk is you know… just the sleeves! Lol.
I’m still not sure about that but I lurve how it feels and how cute it looks. I feel like I can house mini hamsters (yes I know they’re already mini) hording food in their cheeks. Aw cute!

Black knit cardigan (with details I find difficult to describe), H&M. Long tank, Topshop. Pannelled jersey skinny pants, H&M. Tie-dye canvas bag, H&M. Yellow cutout shoes, Hong Kong Industrial Centre. Felt and metal findings neck piece, Hong Kong Industrial Centre.
Here’s my nyooly dyed hair, courtesy of my boyfriend! He was totally taken by the Kao Liese bubble/foam hair dye, cos dyes usually come in a thick, repulsive creamy consistency, which isn’t half as fun as this bubbly stuff.
I likey how it turned out. Think I’ll try something redder in a few weeks!
Also, look at the knee patch of the pants! I lurve. It’s got this quilting feel going on, even at the waistband, but I pull my top over to conceal my tum tum. Lol.
Do you feel disturbed when I say things like that?
Too bad!

A classmate of mine once said, “Messy is sexy”.
And she was referring to the state of our ponytails as we were fussing over them after a usual un-glam P.E. session.
Since then, it kinda stuck as a catchphrase for our messy hair.
Our own little excuse.
Then, at a recent event, I came across this lady with her hair tied as such…

I am so amazed by how neat it is.
I bet that all the hairspray and bobby pins in the world could not make my hair remotely that neat.
*kowtows!!!

Neat, ain’t that bad too eh?

Apologies for the lack of posts. Feeling very guilty for not updating more frequently and being VERY backlogged with entries (:
Jo’s computer is still down. /:
and Sarah is back from camp (yet again and only temporarily)!
Anyway, wanted to share this uber random fact: At these recent spate of camps I’ve been organizing, I have just been assigned a new responsibility that wasn’t in my original job description…
Me + Powder + Killer Makeup Artist + Old Sheet = …

I am now one of the resident ghosts of camp. /:

Humidity vs Hair.
It’s the time of the year where things start to heat up between the perennial enemies (at least in Singapore).
Who wins?
I think ultimately…

In conjunction with the Business School Society’s Annual Bash, The Fashion Fraternity has compiled a lookbook to inspire partygoers to dress to the theme: Caged Inhibitions.

I helped out the girls from in this photoshoot collaboration. It was interesting night shoot at Fort Canning.

Kudos to the photographer, Wayne, dedicated to his craft. On several occasions, he was sprawled on the (dirty) ground to get the angles just right and he kept the mood very fun.

And kudos to the girls who had to balance on uneven ground in heels and stand still as mosquitoes fed on them.

shu uemura often teams up with designers from different fields to come up with mind blowing skincare and make-up collections.
This season, they’ve got Mika Ninagawa to add florals and sparkles to their colour palettes, lip gloss trios and cosmetic bags that makes me want to paint flowers and goldfish instead of er… my face, hahahah.

It’s rare to see such vivid colours for characteristically darker (dreary?) autumn/winter seasons. I must admit that I wasn’t familiar with Mika Ninagawa and her works, but now that I’ve seen the rest of her portfolio, there’s hardly anyone else who could so convincing inject all these jarring colours into one cute collection.

She has such an eye for colour and that lends an air of artificiality, or exagerrated reality in all the best ways possible. It makes me wonder how she gets all these colours – it almost looks like a heat/temperature sensor, doesn’t it?
She makes goldfish look so cuddly tooo! Omg I need to *hug/squish* one now.

Anna Tsuchiya
See how the dress flares out into a floral structure as well? Petals peeling, complete with a long, leggy stamen.

All photographs from Mika Ninagawa
While my friend and I were browsing Mika’s sight, we were totally overwhelmed by the intensity and variety of the colours she used. How do you work with sooo many colours? And despite all these she maintains a very strong sense of Japanese themes, even without the subjects.
Be sure to check out the stills from her movie, Sakuran, as well!

A few of my friends and I will be having a feather party soon! We’ve titled it “Caberet” because that was the only nice sounding word (other than feather) that came to our minds.
Then I saw this on the Face Hunter

Can you say, “Awfully inspiring!” ? Haha. I have a feeling those two circular patches were actually meant to be worn on the head.
I think we decided on the theme because it’s an excellent excure for us to buy those gorgeous false eyelashes and have them on for an entire night
From shu uemura,

I really like the first green ones, plus I recently got a nice teal eyeliner for $12 last week from a M.A.C. sale in school!
From Make Up Store,

These are pretty too, but they are more expensive than shu’s (!) and I’m not too familiar with products from Make Up Store.
I think I’ll just end up getting the second ones shu.
Feather party!!!!
