I’m an unoriginal, cheating, ultra major copycat!

I was at Daiso (the horrible place that has everything from cosmetics to handicraft to gardening to food products - which makes you want to buy everything because it is just $2) with my boyfriend to help him look for some travel toiletry bottles for him to bring into his camp after he enlists for national service (army).

Then I spotted these lengths of zips, colourful zips, star zips, floral zips, silver zips, zips that you can cut to your own length.. then wait - ZIPS YOU CAN CUT TO YOUR FAVOURED LENGTH!

I got three long pieces at a go ($6 WTF) and spent half my day at work and the whole of last night making it.

It has ugly stitching and all, but I don’t intend to be that close to anyone for them to be able to spot that… It also doesn’t have a zip stopper (whatever that’s called) so the zip can come right off I don’t stop right before the hem. But of course all i have to do is zip it up from the bottom when that happens.

Worse still, it’s kinda to big at the waist and too small at the zip for me, so I just leave the back undone to accomodate the size.

Sigh.

Still.

Caged in a cage, in a cage, in a cage, in a cage

That’s the E.T. look, the semi chee-sin mui look, and the superwoman look. Wahahahha.

Top: Black silk/cashmere v-neck jumper from Mango Suit
Dress: Convertible black and grey dress/top/skirt from Baylene
Leggings: my sister’s
Pants: Silver denim pants from HK
Heels: Open-toed booties from HK
Headbands: Diva

(Okay I think I’m becoming a not-so-closet/secret Susie fangirl. And maybe also a bit of Diana. Heh.)

The long/mini dress/top you see in the last three photos is actually a convertible dress/top/skirt that i bought from a local designer - Baylene a week or two ago. There are supposed to be at least ten ways you can wear that thing, so since I splurged quite a bit on it, I think I better find more ways to wear it.

I like wearing it over my face. But it is not very practical, no? :D

Chee Sin Mui

A while ago, Susie Bubble took on some wtf -fabric and labelled the entire look “chee sin mui”, which translates to crazy girl in Cantonese!

Sometimes people at home say that I’m chee sin, but never in the way that Susie Bubble looked - which was quite awesome! haha.

Here’s another chee sin mui moment

A very darling Carrie looking haphazardly and hazardously put together! Those booties she’s tottering on on slippery snow, that hugeeee fur coat and ditzy disco sequined cap all over pjs?

If you could see my face right now it looks something like -> o.0? complete with the question mark.

Well every now and then I get to play around with clothes and mannequins that don’t belong to me, haha. So here’s my !attempt! at the chi seen mui :D

Okay somehow the chee sin-ness doesn’t comes across very well in the picture. Maybe you need to add a face and actions. You can try to imagine my o.0 face :D

Soooo this is what went into it
1) Plain orange flutter sleeve top with stripe trimming
2) Floral print square neck sleevesless top with lace trimming
3) Stripe denim jumper dress
4) Braces from an orange high waist skirt with stripe trimming (tied in a bow)
5) Brown leather bag

Do you feel me?

ph34r t3h ch33 5!n! (fear the chee-sin! okay I’m sorry I go into bursts of 1337 sp34k [leet {elite} speak])

Wow, the last time I used that many brackets was in math.

Take Me Out

Top: Pink zebra print tank dress from H&M
Cardigan: This Budget Outlet
Shorts: H&M
Scarf: H&M

I don’t know why, but outfits like these are relegated to my room. In front of the mirror. In the middle of the night. That IS my messy room by the way :D

I don’t seem to be able to TAKE! (forces legs to move) IT! (gaahhhh, no don’t scurry to put on another outfit!) OUT!

It’s not that it’s a genius outfit, it’s just a whole load of colour and prints which I have never seen myself in outside. Plus my friends might think I burnt a brain cell or two - I usually go out in black, grey, light silver, white, brown or the like.

Chained.

One of my first purchases on my Perth trip was a necklace from Forever New.

Its a simple chain necklace, that looks somewhat like a snake because of its “scales”.

But its so versatile! <3!

best of all, i paid AU$3 for it! (which is about S$4!)

So here are a few things I’ve been able to create.

with simple knots, looping and sheer boredom, these were some of the patterns i came up with.

I especially like the double loop (2nd pic) and the variation of the simple knot (5th pic). Furthermore, the clasps allow me to wear it without the fear that my big head wont be able to fit through. hahas.

ok, thats all for now.

cheers!

Proud as a Peacock

First there was the pic from the Sart, then Pinks found the Bebaroque tights from theshopfloorproject.com, which got me thinking about how I could diy these tights.

Pic from The Clothes Horse

Then I found a post by The Clothes Horse about her drawing peacock designs on her own tights, and I immediately whipped out my new yellow tights and fabric marker and started doodling!

I wore black tights under my yellow tights so that my skin wouldn’t be stained by the fabric marker. But in the end, it kinda still did, though it was nothing that some soap and water couldn’t rid!

Here’s a close up of the completed project! (My dad just walked past and thought it was a tattoo.) The lines are not as clean as the real thing, but I think I’m okay with the sketchiness of it (:

Pardon my sleepy face and cheesy stances!

Top: Topshop singlet, Giordano Ladies hooded cape cardiga
Bottoms: Mango tailored shorts
Tights: Yellow DIY tights that I just made today!
Accessories: River Island handcuffs necklace, This Fashion faux gem choker, Marc by Marc Jacobs bracelet watch

I think I shall embark on the fringe tights next. I should be able to sew them on!

Egg Yolk Love

I remember how my friend likened her new deep yellow nail colour to that of an egg yolk. I like eggs - salted, preserved, scrambled, with mayo… anything! I wouldn’t eat it raw, but it looks really pretty raw. Then I decided anything in yellow and white must look quite acceptable :D

Here’s what I wore to watch Iron Man today. Yes, I know it’s a little late, but it was a free movie pass that came in just as we left for Hong Kong! Luckily the show is still running :D

Dress: from Forever 21 (my sister’s)
Outerwear: Navy striped double breasted jacket from East Point Mall SGD20
Belt: Yellow faux leather belt from This Fashion SGD8
Bag: Yellow and white tie dye from H&M
Shoes: Yellow leather tie flats from HK Wholesale Centre HKD200

Close up of my shoes. Or our shoes. And my boyfriend’s hairy legs :D

I like my cool new leather tie shoes. Especially the bright happy yellow colour! But I don’t know if I am starting to love yellow a litttllleee too much. I bought egg yolk coloured tights (SGD8 from This Fashion) and tried them on with my shoes (:

Is it… too much? I usually wear black, white and grey. Yellow’s kinda a level up, haha.

Promised some outfit shots of the stuff I bought in Hong Kong. Here’s an interesting pair of bottoms from Giordano Ladies.

It’s actually a pair of culottes. I had to flare them out so that the legs can be seen. If not it’ll look just like a skirt. But I managed to make them look like a draped skirt too!

Spot my new grey heels from Hong Kong too! HKD200 each from the same shop I bought the yellow shoes

Managed to get it look like something else with the help of a good ol’ safety pin. But I know it’s not too good for the fabric, or the pin, cos its a heavy suiting material.

Top: Grey v-neck basic top from Giordano Concepts HKD90
Necklaces: Black choker from This Fashion SGD8, Malleable silver necklace/bracelet from Shen Zhen RMB30

Top: Grey camisole corset from H&M
Bottoms: Black playsuit from H&M
Outerwear: Floral short sleeved cardigan from Shen Zhen RMB100
Bag: Beige tote with multiple zips from HK Wholesale Mall HKD100
Shoes: Beige low wedges from HK Wholesale Mall HKD150
Hair accessory: Malleable silver necklace/bracelet from Shen Zhen RMB30

Yay for silver nails!

I know I said I’d buy colours and prints, and I did buy colours and prints in HK, but wearing yellow the whole day was quite visually exhausting for myself, hahahah.

I leave you with a happy me in Hong Kong enjoying the last of my steamed milk custard and steamed egg custard looking like a real half-boiled egg :D

Geek Mahjong

As jo mentioned in an earlier post, we had a mini THEMED mahjong party :D

Before the ‘party’ began, we took several photographs

of us, waiting for the schoolbus…

being very studious…

basically, taking silly pictures!

The accessory choices were like icing on cake, a yummy chocolate cake (*slurps!) hahas. jo had a thumbdrive, an ibook remote control and lanyard reading ‘1337 G33k’ as necklaces. Moo had suspenders (which jo, who could not pass up the opportunity, snapped at least twice!). Angel had an oversized sweater. And i had a small pouch, a Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers’ collar pin and a glitter fish hair pin. Not forgetting the high socks which (everyone commented) made me look more like a mainland Chinese.

Jo and i are already thinking of more themed parties. hehes.

hope you enjoyed this post! (because there are more to come!!!)

with that, the psuedo PRC and chip ‘n dale rescue ranger’s collarpin bid you farewell!

These are a few of my favourite things

These are A FEW? of my favourite things?

I was looking up some photographs when I found Jeong Mee Yoon’s “The Pink Project”. Yoon was inspired by her 5-year-old daughter’s love for pink and decided to photograph all of her daughter’s favourite pink objects - be it toys, books or stationery. She went on to photograph other parents’ daughters and sons together with their favourite items.

Photos from artnet.com

W. O. W. these kids sureee are lucky. They boys even have a hint of smug on their faces! I like spending money and shopping for myself, but I love buying/making gifts too. But having a kid is like, buying stuff for one whole other person! How will I bear to spend thattt much! I can’t imagine.

But why the pink for girls and blue for boys? What about all the colours in between! You know how infants have their photographs taken right after they’ve popped out, the girls are always in pink and the boys are always in blue, and all the gifts from friends and relatives are all colour coded.

When I have my own kids, I want colours like magenta, plum, lime green, canary yellow and all the other yummy colours.

Actually, I need all these colours in my cupboard now.

I put all my clothes into to cupboard, one consists of all the clothes with black and dark colours, the other with white and light colours.

You will see that I am in dire need of a wardrobe detox when I put up pictures, haha.

I think if I laid out all my favourites they’d form a very depressing grayscale. When I have an option of colour/print v black/white, I usually opt for the latter thinking it’ll be easier to match. Hell yea, now I have a lot of things in the same colour to match.

But it’s okay, I will stock up on PRINTS and BRIGHT HAPPY COLOURS on my trip to Hong Kong, in EXACTLY A WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOO.

Do you sometimes find yourself dressing to match your accessories? Especially when it comes to unique finds?
Well, my glove obsession grows… this time, its a short driving glove. I like the space above the wrist. It reminds me of a pair that was part of a ck ad a long (long) time ago.
Look 3:

Look 4:

more of my non-tropics-friendly loves are emerging. :) trenchcoats, boots, gloves. *wills for snow in singapore!* hahas.

Resistance is futile!

Since my holidays are here, I thought I’d give polyvore a shot.

Look 1:

Look 2:

both looks central around the long blue gloves with button details. (I have a tendency for loving non-tropical-climate-friendly clothing, but what the heck!) and i find myself second guessing my choices. especially the second look, with dr. martens and that hat. :/ but, to me, they look ok.

and the more i look at ‘em dr. martens, the more the beckon me to buy them!!! (i can just imagine jo saying ‘resistance is futile!!!’ hahas.) How much ARE dr. martens?
