WOTTONCOOL

Clothed in shoes

Pedder Red has a a new collaboration with Wyman Wong, a multi-tasking celeb (of sorts?) from Hong Kong.

He created a tantalising five-piece collection inspired by the tailoring and work of fashion designers such as Martin Margiela, Christophe Decarin, and Yves Saint Laurent, and you’ll see why in the pictures.

christophe

oscar

Biker chains and mini dress for Christophe (Balmainia, Balmainia, Balmainia), and a poufy sweetheart tiered dress for Oscar.

How adorable, how adorable, HOW ADORABLE ARE THESE?

yves1

YVES_Pedder Red 005b_SGD359

No prizes for guessing, this is Yves. The tuxedo at the back actually has two heels so that the trousers work better, and the flappy collar, lapel and bow-tie looks like a pretty bow at the back of the shoe from far.

martin-black

Martin – The one with the mannequin on spindly legs is just pure sechzzzzz. So hawt!

My boyfriend was there with me in Pedder Red over the weekend to give his opinion and help me decide – but to no avail. When I saw the pictures, Yves was mine. But when I tried Martin on, I was torn.

Martin or Yves? Tough choice innit? Help me decide!

I’m trying to do the pervy just-say-a-6-pack-on-legs-with-a-totally-cute-face-walk-past hel-lo!

Can you tell?

Anyway, it’s because I’m welcoming this pair of Alaia’s to partake in my communion of height-enhancing footwear. And I won them on eBay at USD99 + 30 (shipping), with no other bidders.

No other bidders. Are you guys crazy or what?

My other Alaia is was a suede belt, bought for a dollar, with a price tag of $790, that now belongs to Sarah.

Okay now make a beeline to oogle at my shoes. I secretly hope everyone’s jealous ahhahahah. Hope they fit! (:

7inches of LOVE

Last I measured (which was quite some time ago) my height was a decent 171cm. Slightly above average, there isn’t much need (for both vertically and practicality’s sake) to be wearing heels.

But that has never stopped my love and appreciation for beautiful shoes, especially the high-heeled sorts… It’s either 3inches and above or nothing. Painful as it may potentially be, I really love the arch created and how it elongates.

Friends sometimes ask how I can walk in 4-inch heels the whole day. And why I’d subject myself to such pain and torture and inconvenience (balancing on the bus in 4-inch heels, with bulky bag and laptop in hand is a skill yo!)

But as if 4 inch heels aren’t scary enough.

Meet Burberry’s AW09 Shoes

According to Burberry, these shoes have a towering 18cm heel! Can you imagine being almost 20cm taller?! WOAH! Crazily insane but pure LOVE. Pure 7inches of LOVE!

Burberry AW09 Braided Platform Sandals

There is something very understated yet lustable about this leather strap detailing, wood platform and rubber sole combination. Fierce and feminine and yet not over-the-top blinged out.

And usually, when I think of wedge platforms, my first point of recall is the images of scarring ah-lian footwear – wedge platform foam slippers.*shudders*

On contrary however, I’m really digging these suede wedge ankle boots. Understated cool. I’d wear these in a heartbeat!

And if finances permitted (which is so totally NOT going to happen), this is how I’d  wear it.

Do your taste in fashion and music preferences correlate?

I’m not sure if mine do… I love Mr Big, Extreme, Nuno Bettencourt, Steve Vai. These are the people I’ve actually spent money to go to their concerts (okay not Extreme, but let’s just imagine..).

But I cannot do 80’s rock chick.

8726_170535111800_575596800_2815276_8240016_n

Nope.

I went for the mind-blowing Mr Big Reunion Tour 2009 at Fort Canning last night, but pretended that it was an indie/hippie music fests (although I would never go for them). I’m a ball of paradoxes, I know.

I wore a solar panel necklace… okay kidding it’s a silver bead and felt bib necklace, raglan jersey tee with a shirt tail, tweed shorts from Zara, Wallabees cut low from Clarks, vintage leather sling bag, and stuff on my wrists. So rojak right?

Was anyone there?

I need more Mr Big!

I’m bursting with leftover excitation (doesn’t it sound more eventful than… excitement?) from Mr Big and something else coming up!!!

Scaling to New Heights

I haven’t really been following Spring/Summer 09 RTW

but by golly! Is Alexander McQueen trying to kill us?! hahas.

00150m

00040m

These shoes are so weird and intriguing and INSANELY high (therefore near impossible to walk in) and I think are BEEUUTIFUL! (:

00180m

I’m quite curious to see how this translates down into more affordable variations. Variations that I might actually be able to afford :D !

00620m

It kinda feels like you are on pointe shoes without really being on pointe. Plus i love the cascading ‘nuts’ (the hardware sort) and embellishments!

00730m

I’m sooo tempted to stick random shiny objects to my shoes now. I sound like a crow!!! hahas

00690m

If I had a pair, I might just put them on display permanently. On a rotating platform. Spotlights and all. And just spend my day oogling, awe-striken and worshiping. O_O!

New Balance Feral Collection

I came across the New Balance Feral Collection adverts in September’s issue of Juice magazine.

Sorry I couldn’t find clearer pictures…

But may I declare that I am in awe of the Crow and Peacock watercolours!?!  (:

Lion

Mouse

Not the the Lion and Mouse images aren’t cool too. The whole black and red and purple colour combo doesn’t call my name like the other two do. hahas…

So much so that

Picture 002

Its now a part of my daily planner because it looks too good to throw away! But more on that later (:

Peacock

new_balance_mc999_4-570x427

I love how bright the colours are and how its not a solid block of colour but a cool gradient. interesting yet subtle detail. (:

Crow

new_balance_mc999_9-570x427

Yesterday while out shopping at Raffles City, I walked by the New Balance store and got to see the Feral Collection shoes up close.

And I must say that the photos don’t do these shoes justice.

new_balance_mc999_7-570x427

Its not till up close that you see the pony hair (at least I think and hope that it pony hair! :/) that has been incorporated into the Crow design.

Seriously, kudos to the artists involved in this collection. They make me wanna own a pair!

For reasons unexplained and unknown, even to myself, I have an urge to get myself a pair of yellow Converse high cuts!

They just seem so bright and happy. And such a funky pick-me-up for any normal outfit you may have on. (:

It did not help that everywhere I went, on the bus and train… every time I saw someone in something yellow, I got the nagging feeling that I should rush down to the nearest Converse outlet and get myself a pair! Weird huh?!

I bet this is my multiple levels of consciousness desiring retail therapy. hahas.

Reading Bryanboy (I’m one of those blog lurkers when I’m not doing the blogging..) introduced me to a plethora of super vivid vocabulary – ones that you have never been taught to spell but so often harbour the truer essence of its meaning.

Example: WERQ!

Lemme tell you, you’re never really working, putting enough effort, until you WERQ, yo!

O btw, that’s so the total opposite of me right now.

On a totally unrelated note (unless.. you wish to find the connection), here’s a picture of me on the light rail in Hong Kong trying to pull off my nyoo Ray Bans and Clarks Wallabees.

IMG_4555

Light pink grosgrain mesh top, H&M. Light grey self-tie long tank, Nicholas. Pannelled jersey skinny pants, H&M. Beige suede low cut Wallabees, Clarks.

The sunnies are shaped like wayfarers, just without the chunky plastic frame, and a bit ring of silver at the temple. I never know that silver thing was that prominent until I saw my pictures.

And next up, my wallabees in beige suede, cut lower than the normal one. I was kinda drawn to it cos it reminded me of my Sperry’s, and it was beige, and it wasn’t cut too high to make my calves look like chunkier lotus roots than they already are..

PLUS PLUS PLUS, the sole is a whole inch and a half thick so it gives me more height, tee hees! :O

IMG_4354

happy surprised excited omgwtfbbq face

O btw my hair is longer now too. It is in the in-between, omg-I-want-to-cut-but-I-must-prevail! length.

okthxbye.

$1 & $2 Goodness SPAM

Jo and I participated in Flea Titan on a whim and in an attempt to clear our closet plus to get some moolah (for more beautiful things).

Damn the economic crisis.

I was a bit busy and preoccupied to take during and after shots of the flea so I only have before shots to share…

Picture 020

We had some technical difficulty setting up the rack.

But thankfully it held up!

(At the booth next to ours, the rack literally broke! 0.0! and adjacent to our booth, their rack kept swaying :/)

Picture 021

Our table + rack. Fully utilized.

Picture 022

Everything in the bucket/tub went for $1 each. (and there were ppl still trying to bargain and be fussy at $1. seriously?! hahas)

Towards the end, in her bid to not bring home her stuff was giving her stuff away, shouting ‘Free shoes! Free clothes!!!’ and I swear everyone within earshot froze in their tracks and stared at her in disbelief. hahas. it was quite funny.

All in all a fun day… even though food was nightmarishly expensive!

Thank you for supporting Wottoncool’s $1 and $2 goodness! (:
