WOTTONCOOL

Bling

Before hitting the books hard on Monday, attended a friend’s 21st birthday celebrations where we were all also celebrating the last day of school (and finishing my module assignment early!)

After dinner and before arriving at Double-O, we were all given glow-in-the-dark bracelets. The ones you buy in packs of 50 and only about 10 actually work well.

Usually, I wear them (good and not-so-good) in this random jumble… But this time, they were arranged in gradient. I quite like it! hahas

blingSo totally random, but don’t you like my temporary bling?!

Had to make up for my blah outfit that night. (:

October rundown

October has been a running month.

10323_171969491467_151672691467_3834598_1961984_n

The first two weekends were spent at Bukit Gombak stadium for IVP (Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic) Track and Field Competition. My events were in 400m and 200m. Little training. No experience. Scariest 30-40seconds of my life!

Then, yesterday morning I jumped out of bed at the unearthly hour of 6.15am. I had set my alarm for 5.30am and obviously did not hear it. hahas

Thank you Edwin for the wakeup call.

And this unearthly waking was for the Nike Human Race.

The most artistic we’ve been in like… 500 years. Zomg so sadz. We crosshatched like mad in half an hour.

PURR MEOW!! Let’s play a game of, what sports fashion brand sounds like these onomatopoeia? (Shiz, I haven’t used this word since Sec 2!)

Sadly our drawings obscured our outfits.. so er… no outfit pictures yet!

Presenting…

You know how it is when you are bored at home, lazying around the place… Passing the time by watching television, listening to music, reading a book, sleeping in, pigging out, watching your pet fish (if you have some) swim back and forth in their tank?

Well, what happens when you put 7 bored dancers and 3 bored musicians together?

Toss into the equation, a tanker-full of creative juices, bundles of tape, time and sweat…

And you get Project Sexycats!

Project Sexycats 01

The put it very succinctly: 7 dancers, 3 musicians, 1 video.

A collaboration between the Sunset Alley Cats, a street dance group, and the Sexies (aka the band, who claim music to be their underwears).

Project Sextcats 02

Yes. they REALLY film in their underwear. classy eh?

Read more about their own introduction here!

Well, that started off as one video has snowballed into something a bit more than that…

For when you are bored, need a break and good laugh, watch these!!

Hit or Miss Singapore Universe

A year ago, the 2008 Miss Singapore Universe contingent received flak for Merlion-inspired costume.

You can read more about this story here and here.

Fast forward to 2009…

(I suspect) In attempts to counter the less-than-friendly responses, the organizers gave the public control over the selection of 2009’s costume.

The result was an online voting competition open to National Service (NS) men, which was recently mentioned in the papers.

Ldesign10

Ldesign3

Students from Raffles Design Institute submitted their sketches and concept writeup for voting.

Ldesign5

Ldesign4

The intentions were good.

In fact, rather brilliant, if the objective was the get a greater buy-in from the population and fuller support for the final costume chosen.

Ldesign2

Ldesign6

Some designs are quite impressive.

Ldesign9

And for the students participating, its good exposure for them.

(Who wouldn’t want to say that they’ve designed the costume worn by Miss Singapore at an International competition, viewed by millions?!)

Ldesign8

The presentation of idea, sketch and concept had a significant impact on my opinion.

Ldesign1

Take for example, winning design by Chiang XiaoJun. The sketch, I like… the colours and visual concept looks pleasant. But with spelling mistakes like ‘Singaporian’ and grammar mistakes… ‘that is what most proud about of my country’?!

Not a very proud “Singaporian” moment.

Bundle of Joy

A classmate of mine once said, “Messy is sexy”.

And she was referring to the state of our ponytails as we were fussing over them after a usual un-glam  P.E. session.

Since then, it kinda stuck as a catchphrase for our messy hair.

Our own little excuse.

Then, at a recent event, I came across this lady with her hair tied as such…

Picture 038

I am so amazed by how neat it is.

I bet that all the hairspray and bobby pins in the world could not make my hair remotely that neat.

*kowtows!!!

Picture 040

Neat, ain’t that bad too eh?

Flea & Easy – Beauty and Feast Edition

Last Wednesday,

As part of a module for school, we have the opportunity to visit Israel (!) in early May.

And although, the research I’ve done is not entirely related to my Business Study Mission module :D , it has certainly been insightful.

Behold!

ILook: Israeli Street Fashion

Although I can’t read the Hebrew text, there is eye candy to enjoy :D !

The lilies on her shoes speak to me (:

Could you wear that much tartan and look this cool?

Plain Jane Fierce. does that make sense?! hahas

Loving his shiny shoes and skinny belt

The incorporation of red (lips, vest, shoes and hair) makes the whole look ‘pop!’

3025489398_e5c3089a4f

And my favourite!

A yummy and commendable combination of vintage prints.. Plus points for the red bow-tie accent

AND have you noticed her shoes!!! <3s

So… as long as you’re tall and leggy, you can get away with wearing rotations of oversized tee, tapered pants, some expensive and/or easily recognizable shoe and/or bag.

Better if people know your name, they wouldn’t even care what you’re wearing! Instant cool.

Is it the tapered pants… leather something? oversized top… black jacket..

These pictures appeared within one photo of each other, all in the same page on AltaMiraNYC’s contribution to Teen Vogue. (O! or maybe it’s Teen Vogue)

Not saying that AltaMiraNYC doesn’t have a good eye for fashion. I follow the blog religiously.

All I wanted to say was: Look there are clones around fashion week too!
