Max Tan treated us to a sneak peek of his upcoming Spring Summer collection after the Parco next-Next fashion show two weeks ago and we were all over the new garments.
You know he never disappoints, and as we were acquainted with the new rack, we set our eyes on this soft grey melange top-and-skirt ensemble:
The subtly paneled top ends with a circle of folds, and then integrates seamlessly into the heavily draped skirt. I have no words.
Here’s a mind-teaser/mind-boggling piece – a dress that melds into a rectangular skirt when held up. How is such an idea conceived? How does that even happen? My mind is blown. (Or I am stupid.)

Sarah’s holidaying in Tokyo with her family! And here I am stuck in fickle-weathered Singapore. For those of you who miss her already, here’s what she wore to Parco’s next-Next Fashion Show last Friday at Millenia Walk.
First, an A-line white shirt from Zara, ruched leggings ala Sass & Bide from Bysi, and black leather lace-up wedges from Aldo.
While we were walking around, she set her eyes on this black crepe maxi-dress-jumpsuit from Max Tan. It is so cute because it really does look like a maxi dress from afar, but is actually one that is sewn up at the bottom with two tubular openings for the ankles. Got. To. Have. At. Some. Point.
Eventually she brought home a vented leather/wet-look jacket with extra long sleeves by Mae Pang. Sleek and sultry I say. Lots to check out from both the designers and more, so buy smaller presents and splurge on yourself instead. Okay I kid.
Sooo this weekend I’ll be going solo at Topshop Knightbridge’s opening party – their largest store outside of their Oxford Circus store in London!
Hansel’s birthday/opening party at Mandarin Gallery on Friday. Can’t wait to see what the store decor is like.
And lastly, Front Row’s 5th Anniversary Fete on Sunday at White Rabbit. For more informations, go here.
Hope your December is going well so far. This month makes me feel kinda reflective and I’m not quite sure what to make of this year. More happy days ahead!

Parco’s first installment of next-Next fashion designers have reached their one-year’s lease in the departmental store. Now, a new creative collective joins them for the second year, and leading the pack for 2011 is AKA Wayward by Mun Foong – the 31-year-old designer won the show last Friday at Millenia Walk.
She likes taking things apart, and sheepishly piecing them back together, and that pretty much explains the colour-and-print-blocked suits and shirts she rolled out on the runway.
The rip-and-repair process may sound like a tad bit like looking into the mind of a three-year-old, but the effect, surprisingly, works out swell. But! it sorta reminds me of Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2010 (cats, doves, naked ladies…), albeit with farm feathered friends.
I could see myself wearing these menswear pieces, and mixing the prints up in a single garment makes us feel bolder to do likewise with our other clothes. Sooo, thumbs up on both counts!
Do you feel slightly emboldened too?
You can start shopping for these and other upcoming local fashion designer wares at Level 2 of Parco Marina Bay in Millenia Walk, Singapore.
